Description
Revisit Jim Morrison and The Doors...naw. Just a little parody update.
The paraphrase of the Morrison riff on personal freedom
clanks in the air yes? His voice is preserved in unpublished
monologues and his poetry is available. He seems so out
of tune in the world most people inhabit. I miss what he
stood for in our culture. Long gone...

Lyrics
(by request)

What is freedom?
Freedom is when fear has no power over you.
Most important, the part of freedom
is to be who your are.
Trade in your reality for a role?
Trade in your sense for an act?
You give up your ability to feel, and
In the exchange, put on a mask...
There is no revolution that is not personal,
On an individual level.
Revolution only happens
Inside the individual...
Let me prove it to you!

You know the night destroys the day
Day divides the night
Tried to run, tried to hide
Break on through to the other side

We chased our pleasures here
Dug our treasure there
Can you still recall in time we lied?
Break on through to the other side

Everybody loves my baby
Everybody sells my baby
She get, she get, she get, she get programed! Yeah!

I find an island in you arms
Vacancy in your heart
Arms that strained, eyes that cried
Break on through to the other side

You went to sleep didn't ya?, now
Ya been sleeping for a long time
Consumed it didn't ya?
You consumed the stream, week to week
day to day, hour to hour,
The gate is straight deep and wide
Break on through to the other side
Break on through
Yeah!

Hello KC
Thanks for stopping by... The Doors came out of the night, fresh, shinning and dirty. They changed everything. Who could still Beatle after their first Door's record?
Seriously, I can recall thinking RK was just an awful guitar player. I could do anything he did. I was 13, but to get the The Doors music live, you got to have a Lizard King, to do it live, no substitutions for that one guy seemed to work.
Old times...

Morrison...
left the scene much too soon. I think somehow his struggle with his "demons" magnified his artistic expression....

Morrison Stuff
Morrison thought of himself as a short term phenom. He understood he could not live long in our world, and, accomplished a great deal in his productive period.
The unreleased alcohol and drug induced ramblings on tape are fascinating. A penetrating intellect who opened many doors is perhaps a kind way to view Morrison. He said interesting things when sober as well...

The
opening placed me in a subterranean din. Then you broke on through...and with that organ! Damn I loved that sound. It was worth it just for the keys.
Ok, that tired me out, so I'll take a breather and start again...only so much intensity at once.

Hello Sammy
Thanks for the shout. RM's organ is as much the Doors as Morrison's intellect. It still sounds good daug style... ;)

Taboo You
Yes, I kinda updated the Morrisonisms in the original. I would suggest the effort is spot on accurate, or course... thanks for the shout!

Favorite Doors tune
"Hello" or "Waiting for the Sun" are my favorite Doors vehicles. Again, these tunes make Morrison sound out of place by todays standards. An amazing man.
I don't know the Burn's reference. I stopped watching tv in 1977 when I discovered tv was watching me ;)

Morrison on a whole new level
Strange how we always find ourselves standing at his door. I actually used his style on some of my albums for kids.... This is VERY DYNAMIC
