Lyrics
Ive went for a drive
But the moon is not full
I remembered your birthday
But i didn't call
Three generations is all that it takes
For history to forgets its mistakes

I never learned why she hated me so
I never learned just how to let go

And in my hour of need and despair
I find it hard to believe that she didn't care
My food stamp money
I pocketed the change
I let your heart drift out of range

I never learned why she hated me so
I never learned just how to let go

Vibe
The soaring string arrangement is wonderfully weird! The quirky nature of this is fascinating, almost oriental.
Stick with nouns and the lyrics will work, the tag at the end could well have featured a repeated chant instead of the scat. Just a nit.
Production suited the outing, really enjoyed!
Thanks for sharing your work here.

I like it
You've got sounds winding all over the place here! Interesting places that transition into other interesting places.

Much enjoyed
I like the way there is enough in the lyrics to guess at what might have happened without being too specific. It allows for different interpretations. great production and a bit of a JJ Cale influence. The music keeps moving forward. Best I've heard here for a while.

Great production
Really like the composition and the arrangement, and your vocals simultaneously remind me of both Cat Stevens and Tom Waits, which is a good thing.

I never learned why she hated you, either. Shame, really. She should've gotten over it.

I'm with Daug
The whole thing is very engaging. The scat at the end could go, the reverb could go down, but the overall effect is gripping. You take us into the world of the song and we don't want to leave.

Very cool post!
I like all the spaces you've left in this - sometimes space is my favourite instrument :) This could have been very easily over-produced if you hadn't kept a tight hold on the reins. I'm with those who've mentioned the scat at the end - it kind of lowers the tone right when you want something memorable for good reasons.
All the playing and other vocals works for me.
Good post!

I think
its neat! I like how it is different and still pieced together, know what I mean. I like stories through music, kinda like journaling but just out loud to music.

Cool ambience
I totally dig the large room ambience you create. Accentuates the sense of loss and disorientation. The unique performance is fascinating too, combining Cat Stevens, David Crosby and Jerry Lewis. Very cool track.
