Description
I originally recorded this song sometime back. Something went corrupt when i got around to adding vocals. Luckily i still remembered how the song went and did a total re-record of the song. a bit ironic considering the song title.

Lyrics
Well Played Plans

sitting on the front porch late at night
watching wishing stars until sunrise
stating our dreams and making our plans
all on a hot summer night

so much for well played plans
sometimes they don’t work out that way
so much for living out the dream
tomorrow will be different then yesterday

the pillow is slipping and flatten my dreams
a mansion, a yacht and money tax free
a limousine driver in a black limousine
taking me places i’ve never been

so much for well played plans
sometimes they don’t work out that way
so much for living out the dream
tomorrow will be different then yesterday

so much for well played plans
sometimes they don’t work out that way
so much for living out the dream
tomorrow will be different then yesterday

A classic VH vibe. Driving drums, crunchy guitars, spacey vocals and quality riffage. The fluid middle section is a treat and the lead out over the chorus is top notch. Glad this finally made it to the surface, Vic. Thanks.

Relating
Some songs are remembered .. and others become strangers over passing time. It would probably be a good idea to write out the chord sequences to everything we write - just in case one has to go back and do it again (like happened with this song). Interesting slowdown on the instrumental section - that's a bit different. I love how your guitars produce that drone-like sound. Here in Brooklyn we don't have front porches - we have stoops. We can't see the stars at night because of light pollution - so we are reduced to wishing on lucky street lights .. or passing airplanes : )

Awesome guitar sounds.
Really did that Near eastern riff. Catchy chorus too!

Mid-section was unexpected, but thoroughly enjoyed!

I'm getting an early 70s Brit-rock/pop sound (The Move, The Faces, later Kinks etc) on this. A very nice listen.
Cheers from Oz,

Who says there are no second chances?
Solid guitar work as always. I especially enjoyed the clean break in the middle.

I do wonder if the drum is EQ'ed a bit too much. What I assume is a bass drum sounds more like a hand clap. It's not a particularly appealing sound to me. (Actually, it's not a bass drum: in a few places I can actually discern a low drum. But the rhythm of the hits is more like a bass than a snare. Mystery.)

Guitar's the star...
The clean guitar break is a great change-up, and the crunchier lead that follows is a second satisfying change of direction.
