Gentle Stream (2)

Description
I posted this instrumental earlier in the year using an old nylon string guitar I had ressurected but for my CD for family and friends this year I re-recorded it using my 1982 Maton CW-80/D.

Thought some of you might be interested in the new version.

Happy holiday season.

Regards,

Peter :-)

Very pretty
and, as you say, gentle. Absolutely gorgeous tone and intimate recording. Probably perfect listening for this time of year down under.

Thanks Peter, and have a wonderful Holiday.

In the end...
Thanks, Richard. I just used a Zoom H2, tidied it up in Logic and used Audacity's Noise Reduction tool to get rid of a small amount of hiss. Worked well in the end. Have a wonderful holiday season, too.

I actually don't mind this time of year (despite not following any of the many gods out there vying for control over people) because both sides of our family get together and I get on well with them all. Take care.

I
did not hear the first version as I've been away for a while and I do need to catch up :-)
Lovely playing Peter, you have a nice delicate touch in your playing and it's always good to hear a finger style guitar piece from you.
Very much enjoyed and Happy Christmas!

Starting to come together
Thanks, Bob. Great to have you back around. Yeah, I have been playing this one for about six months now so it is starting to come together. Happy Christmas to you and your family, too. Take care.

Great recording too. I drank too much beer last night and this is perfect soothing music. :-)

Proof
Thanks, Dave. Benjamin Franklin said that "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants to make us happy". Acoustic guitars go with beer, peanut butter on ice cream, sardines on an egg, you name it :-) I appreciate your kind words. Take care.

ITs so very soothing, sounds like one take is there more than one track for guitar, anyway its a great performance well played something I would love to watch live

Single guitar
Thanks, Tim. Single take, single guitar track. Just me an my Maton. It was jealous of my PRS Angelus so I had to get it out and take it for a spin. And yes, I must get into video recording, too. Take care.

Made up
Thanks, Charlie. Half the time I make bits up as I go along so there are no wrong notes :-) Glad you liked it. Have a wonderful holiday break. Already Xmas Day here and it is going to be 36 Celsius in Melbourne... Not a snow flake in sight. Take care.

Fine playing as always - and that guitar is really balanced and intimate. Swell tune too. Enjoy the holidays!

Thanks, KC. Yes, I was happy with how the guitar recorded just using a Zoom H2 for the X/Y condensers. Best wishes to you to, my friend. Take care.

Great tone!
This reminds me so much of James Taylor's tone - in fact a very JT set of chords too. All good - we're off to see him in Sydney in Feb, and greatly looking forward to it. We did some recording recently with a guy called Chris Komorovski and a terrific local singer. I think you'd love his playing.
This is really good.
Cheers,
Neil

JT
Thanks, Neil. Yes all the sus2/sus4's and m7 chords are a JT speciality. I've seen him every time he has been in Melbourne (first in 1981 at Festival Hall) but decided not to fork out the substantial dough this time to see him at a barn like the Rod Laver arena. The acoustics and seating are shite. I chased down Chris Komorovski, to. The boy can play! Have fun coping with the hordes on the Sapphire Coast. Talk soon.

Nice flow to the tune and precise playing. Why the Maton rather than the PRS? (If you've gone off the latter, I could look after it for a while until your enthusiasm rekindles?)

Squeaks......
Thanks, Philip. I used the Maton because it had Elixir Nanowebs on it and all the slides didn't squeak as much as the John Pearse 80/20 Bronze strings on the PRS. Thanks for your concern but the PRS and I are still on speaking terms :-) Talk soon.

All of the above...
...plus a very REAL-sounding recording that does not succumb to extra reverb of any further effect. THAT'S what gives this such an authentic feeling. It may be a little "dry" for some people's taste, but to me it sounds like what I'd hear if I were sitting in the room with you... so nicely played and with a simple, uncomplicated line of melody and harmony. Such pleasant pleasant work.

Same buzz
Thanks, Paul. Sitting in the room is what I am after. No tricks. Just the magic of an acoustic guitar. Well-recorded piano gives me the same buzz. Take care.

Very nice!
Always envious of great acoustic players. I feel naked when I try to play acoustic and like to hide behind electric! Ha ha...

Fits the title. Coveys a relaxed mood Peter.

Be well friend!

Way around
Thanks, Mike. Do you often dream of being naked with just an acoustic guitar? :-) I appreciate the kudos but you know your way around the frets just fine, too. Take care.

Oldtimers disease :-)
Thanks, Vic. Yes, I have a few instrumentals that I have to come to MJ to listen to to remember them, and even then I sometimes can't work out exactly how I played them. Lucky this one was a fairly recent one :-)
