Open Up Your Eyes (The Shallow People)

It’s lasting, I’m running
I’m falling, the gravity that pulls me down

Keep sinking, surviving
Lightning’s striking any moment

Tomorrow, I’ll follow
The shallow people who hold the lines

They’re coming, distorting
Disturbing, all the things in our minds

Open up your eyes

I’m crawling; weight’s fallen
Remember nobody can change you

Creation, rejuvenation
I was born, but I’ve never, never been found

Erosion, crystal corrosion
Can’t break it down into pieces

Emotion, devotion
Calm the ocean; it’s all just a blink in time

Open up you eyes

Fate’s burning, world’s turning
Sense the motion, but I’m still standing still

They’re rising, revising
All the truth is coming from the other side
Hand’s reaching, for pieces
Pawns moving, sacrificing for the king

Love the guitar tones. You develop a big sound, though I like the way you pull it back for the vocal to be forward. Took me a bit of getting used to the wavering melody in the second line of each pair, but by the end I was OK with that. Powerful lyrics. Impressive work, David.

Nice to see you back at MJ Dave. Love the guitars, and the words, as you might imagine, resonate with me.
Some daring guitar tones - ie ones I'd be afraid of using - which work brilliantly.
Dresden must be a little chilly at this time of year. Cool post.
Alles gute,

I love that skittering guitar in descent - it really feels like you're falling and sinking - which nicely underlines the lyrical theme.

The real problem is when your eyes are open, but the nightmare still doesn't go away : )
