Description
not quite psychedelic, but i thought this has some trippy qualities, like very unusual chords in the verse section. also i had the main vocal track very dry. However i thought what would some reverb sound like. I was playing around with the platinum reverb plug-in and found it created a doubling effect. Decided to go with thta to give a little more of a psychedelic flavor. and it has been some time since i used a slide.

Lyrics
Could Have Been Anything

time is anywhere
memories that serve
in the distance we watched the past
we believed in anything
across space and time we dreamed

could have been anything if we believed
would have gone anywhere with a pair of wings
would have been everything beyond our dreams
could have been memories

finding cracks in the shadows
is there a light to follow
the memories are stored away
they may see the light of day

could have been anything if we believed
would have gone anywhere with a pair of wings
would have been everything beyond our dreams
could have been memories

there were echoes miles away
maybe it’s the sound of change
finding those echoes at the source
now we have to change course
ghosts replay everything

could have been anything if we believed
would have gone anywhere with a pair of wings
would have been everything beyond our dreams
could have been memories of anything

Trippy indeed
And I like. Throw back to hey day of sixties-seventies. Love the guitar solo - classic. Thanks, Vic. You bring joy to my old ears...

Nice wash of guitars
I wasn't ready for the chord after the solo!

Slide works well at the end. Very eastern sounding.

Trippy? Vic Holman?
Ha ha... Nice dreamy tune bro. Really like the catchy chorus. Delicious tone on that gorgeous guitar solo. Like Dick, I too was delightfully caught off guard by that power chord at solo's end. very cool!

Could have been Vic Holman!

Be well friend!

great production Vic, sounds great on my monitors and this is another excellent song.
I love the solo and the chord at the end is always a good trick :-)

well that solo chord has seemed to come up a bit. i kinda just thought of it as "the definite end of the solo"
with the background synths it was a bit of a trick to get everything to come through nicely.

Yeah, I really like this song. The chorus reminds me of one of my favourite bands - The Go-Betweens. Loved the solo too. Very tasteful. Nice work Vic.

thanks for the time for the listen. appreciated. the chorus does have a bit of different direction to it. but i guess that what makes a chorus stand out.

Got wing wings, gonna fly fly
Psychedelic is .. just a state of mind.

Love that weepy guitar opening. (Is that the platinum reverb plug-in?)

I believe this song has created its own pair of wings .. because it soars.

the platinum reverb plug in was only used on the main vocal. if i remember right the guitar at the opening was a delay effect

Always a delight
to listen to your work Vic, so well produced and mixed. This has a dreamy quality which does fit in with the psychedelic you aimed for.....kept wondering who your vocal reminded me of on this song and its............... Bob Dylan, cheers M

Could Have Been Anything
Could have been anything but it could only be Vic Holman pulling the strings. Wistful, reflective lyrics. Like the drums in this. Guitars are stellar as always. Bass lines on the way out are great, too. Nice work. Thanks, Vic.

..and in fact turned into a great song. There's a kind of throwaway don't care phrasing to your vocals which fit the song really well and as many have said before great solo.Cheers Mark

I'm liking the unusual progressions like in the starting verse and the bridge. The non-standard harmonies help the verb and feel to make it all the trippier. Digging this one Vic. Downloaded with thanks.
