Description
Probably something I heard somewhere? My color pallet and melodic sense obviously... When I was playing with the Smith Sisters they used to tease me, calling me, "Mr. Beethoven" when I would improvise stuff like this during rehearsal breaks... long time ago folks.
Just popped out while I was taking a break from some really hard stuff I was working on...
This is in Gb, well it's actually Eb minor, and slow at 60 bpm, I can't recall playing very fast in Gb ever... Always seems like a thoughtful key center. Anyway here ya go, probably works as something to play behind the credits on one of those French movies...

Well, that's first - very different in style from what usually emerges from the Daug House. Beautiful melody, skilful playing, restful mood. Gb? Ouch! Much enjoyed.

Hello Sam
Chill? Or more like chili? Ya... once fully in an attitude of playing, stuff just kinda comes out unconsciously, or something. This one was like an accident or something worst... and recalls a time in my life when I used to do this kinda playing during rehearsal breaks to entertain or annoy, hard to say really, the girlies in the group I was working with... old times...

Agree with the French film credit reference. Unorthodox and independent but always with élan. Nice change of pace. Thanks, Daug.

French Feeling
Of all the places to make serious films, why anyone would chose France I am unable to explain. In my experience the mercenary nature of the people flies in the face of music making, but they have fun pop music. Especially in the Benelux, so I guess there truly is no accounting for taste.

You're a madman. That's 4 1/2 beats in a measure - or a ritard in 5.

Mad? Me? Naw, just having some fun!
Yer sense of time is improving, I should charge for these experiences, two measures are indeed slowed with a time smear or ritard if you prefer, the rest of the overall effect is cause by starting each phrase on the third beat or so, the piece floats forward... wobbling in the sunshine.

Sad but withstanding
I love classical music. Grew up listening to it and played it for a few years. My mom listens to it all the time, it's weird, nostalgia of a time she didn't live. Very cool that a piece like this blooms in March of 2017. It's not classical but it shares an element of the classical sentiment. It feels like something pre WWII, yet it's about today. Don't know what I'm talking about, but I enjoyed listening.

Classical?
Thank you for commenting. I appreciate the big ears when they come by...
Naw, I don't play classical music at all. Can't. If I am trying to play something that is classical, the thing falls all apart, I can not repeat the form without altering the thing, then as soon as I halfway understand how something goes I have to change the chords because the classical tyranny of thirds damages my harmonic sense. Sad but withstanding, what a life.

Really really nice Daug...
Reminds me a little of a Grace Slick tune off of "After Bathing At Baxters" called "Rejoyce."

Love the mood here...

Be well man!

Yes Fergie I have been here since the place opened. In fall 2009, I erased the 60+ tunes I had posted since day one. The community here had changed, becoming hateful and repressive, and I needed to respond appropriately. What happened?... [see more]
