Sibling Revelry (Jam Demo)

Description
About eight(?) or so years ago my younger brother Tom---who played drums professionally for more than two decades---sent me a drum track that he probably recorded in some studio in Colorado Springs back in the late 1980s.

When my old Mac crashed six years ago, this track---along with several other gems---was lost to me. To my great joy I was recently able to recover it, and I decided to jam with it old school style.

It features some mighty fine “drum hero” soloing by Tom, along with my usual noodling and thrashing about.

Eventually I just might work this up into a full song. I would have to re-do the guitar parts quite a bit cleaner than they are here, and then add bass and vocals. It's certainly do-able.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this experimental demo.

:-)

Re the photo: that's Tom on the right...

Oh Brother
Fun to listen to for just foolin' around. That hero drumming would certainly fit well into a break in a fully fleshed out song.

Thanks friend!
That "fully fleshed out song" just might be around the bend somewhere!

Be well!

I've always thought Tom a bit mad... Not at all normal like me... (!!!)

brothers in arms
this sure came off in sync. that's some pretty tight drumming and you played off it nicely Mike. your brother sure knows his way around the drums, that's for sure.

Never got to see Tom play live
during those 25 years. Only caught some video of him performing live with the Inmann Brothers Band in the late 80s. He was a MONSTER! I was so proud...

Anyway, it was great fun to finally get to do something together. Glad you liked it...

Be well bro!

So cool
it warms my heart ;-) Long time since I heard anything close to this. Reminds me of some (hard) rock (live?) albums from the 70's when there should always be a drum solo, with the occasional "crazy" guitar and/or organ/synth splashes to go along. Still I wonder if anything of that was half as cool as this. Much enjoyed all my listenings so far :-)

Take care,
Henke

Thanks Henke!
The harking back to earlier times is, of course, quite deliberate here. In fact, if and when I do a full "fleshed out" version, I plan to re-title it: SIBLING REVELRY (OLD SCHOOL).

Sp glad to here you enjoyed this. Too bad we can't get together, have a few beers, and listen to some classic album cuts from back in the day!

Oh well... MJ will just have to do...

Take care bro!

Brothers in arms! And in Tom's case, feet as well :-) Tom knows his way around a kit and you know your way around the frets, Mike, so the synergy is palpable. Fine collab. Thanks.

"palpable synergy"
I like that! It would make a great title for a live album!

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement Peter.

Hi Ste
I plan to finish this thing soon. They'll be slightly cleaner guitar, bass, and even a vocal. This is just a jam demo.

Thanks for clocking in!

Be well!
