Freedom's Child

Description
Guitar amps cranked to ten, and a midi drummer three sheets to the wind.

It's time to get JIGGY with it... LITERALLY.

Another Libertarian anthem.

Lyrics
FREEDOM'S CHILD

I.
Left and Right wing demagogues
fight like rabid cats and dogs
upon our T.V. Screens.

Imposing ideologies
that amount to slavery
upon the populace.

The Muslim, Christian, and the Jew;
the atheist, and pagan too,
all caught up in the lies.

And as we quarrel 'mongst ourselves,
the brash totalitarian plots
in thinly-veiled disguise!

CHORUS:
But freedom's child has piercing eyes
that penetrate the bull.
He sees right through this deadly puppet show.
“Equality,” “security,”
---their mantra aimed at you and me,
but the Emperor stands naked there
and shivering!

II.
Saul Alinsky's book of rules,
which counsels lying as a tool,
is used to great effect;
by politicos and journalists
strategically positioned there
on both sides of the rift!

CHORUS:
But freedom's child has piercing eyes
that penetrate the bull.
He sees right through this deadly puppet show.
“Equality,” “security,”
---their mantra aimed at you and me,
but the Emperor stands naked there
and shivering!

Hey!

III.
As each new crisis comes to pass
the government's response is
to expand, Expand, EXPAND!

With each new incremental growth
our freedoms dwindle steadily,
and they tax away our hopes.

It's “War on terror!” “War on drugs!”
“Police the world!”
---excuses for these self-anointed thugs!

While “we the people”
zombie-like
are
slaving for the latest Pharaoh's
pyramidal schemes!

CHORUS:
But freedom's child has piercing eyes
that penetrate the bull.
He sees right through this deadly puppet show.
“Equality,” “security,”
---their mantra aimed at you and me,
but the Emperor stands naked there
and shivering!

Hey!

Alright!

Freedom's Child
the first thing i pick up is the marching rhythm on this, which fits the lyrics. marching into the face of myopic views of the real story. cool guitars too Mike!

Hey Vic!
Myopia and utopia... strange but constant bedfellows!

The politics of aggression... whether leftist or rightist...will always SUCK!

Glad you enjoyed this little ditty bro!

Be well!

Freedom's Child
Great blend of old style protest folk and rock, Michael. The scathing lyrics are delivered with gusto and millimetric precision. The song marches along and caries along all before it. Hey!

Hi Peter!
Glad you like it. I especially appreciate the thumbs up on the vocal delivery, although the "gusto" actually may have been a touch of gas... :-)

Strong Bravehearted Spew!
Best of all, and it is all good, is the in your face attitude in the playing. Like live!
Rave on MIke! If you tell too much truth you will trigger a lot of the true believers here- oops too late... The squeeze box in the backing cracked me up too, cool ideas all over the thing....

Thanks Daug!
An occasional "spew" does a body good I'm told... Ha ha...

but I think I'd better do a love song next time out. Too much spewing can be exhausting!

Ahh... the good Mr. Langford!
"From the off"... Gee, thanks Dick! Yup... Some anti-empire tuneage from across the pond. Methinks it dovetails nicely with your "This Empire's State."

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words of support.

Freedom's Child
Marching beats in rock songs usually come off as preachy to me, but this is different. I really like the way you put this together.Good song man, thanks for sharing.
