Description
Okay, my third and last TUNE-UP contribution. A few loops, some drums and one synth loop. Perhaps a very simplistic choice of lyrics, but it is done on purpose... It's a song about when we where all young - in my case the late 70's-80's... Back then it seemed that year 2000 was so far away in the future that we would possible have cities on the moon etc. Now, it is in the past. Maybe some of you remember the times? :)

Lyrics
[ 2000 ]

we where happy to be alive
afraid of the communist devil
we lived a very simple life
tv only had a few channels
we were scared back then just like now
the atomic war was close
we tried our best to hide away
behind posters of thus we loved
cowboys, robots, nintendo and lovers
pac-man, haircuts, thus where the days
we all believed in star wars
we were skywalker for a day
we gave and received our first kiss
our blood had never rushed that way
the year 2000 was so far away
one could not imagine such a day

Yeah- I remember these days
Except my posters were Farrah Fawcett, Dallas Cowboy
Cheerleaders, Rush and Van Halen.

Cool lyrics- overall the song has a nice early 80's new
wave vibe happening. Sounds good tumi.

It's true
have you ever thought about how society has always had the same concerns....the invisible enemy, disease, paper or plastic. Hey, you forgot Miami Vice, skateboards, rat tales and Izod.
Cool song, thanks for the laugh.

It's true
To be honest, I think about these things all of the time, maybe way too much
at times (see other songs). Although this is a "funny" song on the surface, it
also has a darker undertone to it - not depressing - but just the facts of life.
Without going into pokitics and humanity; it is funny how things repats
themselves and how there is always an invisible enemy called fear. Of course,
there is also childhood, and I think I look back at mine as a very good one I
sometimes miss.

Happy you liked my song!!! :)

The 80's lives...
in this song.

I used to live close to "Three Mile Island" maybe that explains a lot. I remember we left our house and went south, scary!

This brought back many memories that were good also. I like the vocal effect near the end. Good job with the loops!

Sounds good Tumi 2! : )

Really great
Very well put together, and a great use of the TUMI loops. Songs like this with lists of things are always really appealing, but you also bring in your own unique point of view.
I feel like doing a Robot Dance to this....

those were definifely the days
The music here reminds me of the Knight Rider song
a little...another fine piece of "retro" nostalgia.
Anyway, this was a fun tune. I loved the Star Wars
clips (I am a SW geek, yes). It's funny - you left a
comment on my song as I was getting ready to listen
to this one... I will keep ya in mind for a possible
future collab.

nostalgic
We all have different memories. My posters where KISS, Runaways, Sweet,
YAZOO, Kraftwerk...sounds like a weird mix and it is. Any good mix is a
weird mix! :)

Glad you tuned in! I listen to your songs as well and left a comment...

Thanks/M

I liked the changes
I don't share the sentiment, tho'. I'm a great believer in
the First Rule of Italian Motor Racing: What'sa behinda
you ista not important. In any case, you state the case
quite eloquently. The close from the Princess was a nice
touch. Good tune!

I liked the changes
I could not agree more; "What'sa behind you ista not important." In any case,
what is behind us still is and will forever be behind us no matter we want to
or not. Do we want to make songs about it, well, that could be questionable,
especially if you are really trying to make a statement such as political,
artistic or even human/historical. The meaning with this song was much
more wide, BUT from a young teenager's point of a view. Look at it as a piece
of tin advertising in a your local second hand store - pick it up, look at it,
turn it around, keep it if you want, throw it away if you so wish - BUT I think it
is important to keep in mind that history always repeats itself! :) I always like
your comments and I am glad you like the tune!
