Description
This is a song I wrote some time ago but I never heard it sound better because it is being enhanced by having Mandodelinquent add some beautiful mandolin sounds to it.

Lyrics
It was down in Louisiana
Beneath a haloed moon
Right beside the lonely banks
Of the Mississippi too
That I first realized that love hadn't come through

Now somewhere there is laughter of lovers feeling good
But I was down on my knees beneath the Live Oak trees wondering which way to go
when I felt my soul lift up and my feet began to move

So from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and Thibodeaux too
When you're feeling lonely, you ought to dance beneath a haloed moon

Awesome!
Excellent song!
the lyrics are great, i've thought they are classic until I've remeberd you wrote them.
the vocals are top of the pile, cream da le cream, excellent vocals.
very good playing too.
good work!!

the song sounded better in my system (I've used headphones, but I use them a lot) when I've boosted up the 310hz to 12khz in my equalizer.

Awesome!
Hey we really appreciate this enthusiastic response!!! Over the years this has
been one of my best received songs and I wanted to try and make a good
recording of it. I had already done one by myself and although not bad it
lacked something. The first time I heard Mando play I knew that he could be
that something and he surpassed my expectations. Hey, who knew a guy
from England could have so much Cajun soul?

Wow- mandolin adds a ton to this beautiful song. You
guys should collab again. This is really fantastic!

Excellent
Thanks Adam! I agree the mandolin is beautiful, eloquent and makes the
song much better. Immediately after hearing the final mix of this song I
started wracking my brain to think of another song that we could do
together. I'm still working on that but I will come up with something and we
will put out another one.

Excellent
Very kind, but you listen to the delicate original version that bronco sent me
and it feels like I'm jumping all over it with Doc Marten boots. That said I'd be
honored to collaborate again.

wow!
Well you know there are many people who consider Louisiana more of a third
world country than a part of the United States! But I am moved by your
comment and appreciate the sentiment. If you didn't read above by the way
the mandolin player is from England. But Budweiser? Don't go that far, I
prefer the local brew or imported myself.

Clean and Pure
Thanks and welcome to MacJams! I went and listened to your song and liked
it. As to the essence of folk, if you listen to my previous song Too Old to Rock
you will know that you have to have a John Denver tenor to be folk. Just
kidding like the song itself. I have been told this is one of my best songs and
I wish I could write some more that would be it's equal.

Much enjoyed
Very nice song, Bronco. Mandolinquent certainly adds a
sweet touch to it with his playing. The end cuts out
before the instruments stop sounding. Let the sustain
finish before you end it.

a bronco tune
I enjoy to see your name, I am going to get entertained.

Your voice reminds me of Hank Williams Jr. :)

Thanks for the story

Nice pickin, you have a really good voice too.

When I hear your voice, I feel like I am hearing a country
recording star.

Nice words

a bronco tune
Thanks Tiler!! You have entertained me a great deal also. I tried to do what
you do but without nearly the ability that you have. Songwriting is what I fell
back on after I knew I wasn't ever going to be a great fingerpicker or singer.
But you encourage me to keep trying in all phases of music and guitar.

Your appeal is world-wide, Tom. Very excellent
performances by you and mandolinquent. (Although I
would like to hear that 'delicate' original version someday,
too.)

Sorry I'm in late on this, been out of town.

Hey Tom! I tried to send you a copy before it was posted but it got kicked
back. I think your mailbox was full. If we both stay on this site long enough
and I run out of songs, you will not only hear the tender version but the
reggae, punk, rock, etc. versions also!

Work is the opium of the masses. Without it we go into withdrawal from food.
But Western civilization is in decline, this is no time to look toward self
interest. I mean the Queen doesn't even attend her sons wedding. They arrive
for the ceremony in a bus? It seems as your royalty declines, ours is on the
rise. I refer to the Bush dynasty of course. First we had the Bush, then the
Shrub. What next the Weed? Or if it is Jenna The Heavy Falling Rose?

Heehee, very insightful comments there, bronco. The British royals dare
not conduct their weddings with pomp and flummery anymore for fear of
being berated for wasting public money. I think their days are numbered,
though they've become so irrelevant that many of us can't be bothered to
hate them. It's quite strange to see how America is embracing the very
things that we've been trying to throw out ... but I suppose these things
do go in cycles.

Great song, and the mandolin-playing is just
gorgeous. I love the harmony vocals, and the
instrumental passage in the middle. Nice one!

Thanks, I just went and listened to your tune and commented over there. I
have to admit I'm proud of this one. Usually I have poor production values,
lazy and sloppy, but it was better on this one.
