Kinks '65 Paris Video
Saturday, February 23 2019 @ 12:02 AM CST

Anybody hear of any party hotter than this one from '65? Please share that video below. Ray Davies in this video anyway is a mad whirlwind. The British invasion bands of 65 and 66 were trying to outdo The Kinks live performances.
Part of what happened to the Kinks is documented as a problem with management. For years they were not allowed to perform in the US. They had troubles with the unions and law enforcement. The management of the Kinks actually quit mid US tour. This left them to finish a tour of the US by themselves. Sadly it was the early seventies before the Kinks were successful in the US after their initial troubles.
In my opinion, Ray Davies in 1966 is more conscious of who he is and what he is trying to do than Lennon/Mac or Jagger/Richards. Davies wrote unique songs, often about class and societal issues and with Clive Davis producing was capable of making great recordings of his songs. Live they were something else too as evidenced by this recording.
