dick, My OS El capitan wont support current version of GB.

I'll try to track down a disc version of ilfe 11 and try an install from there
Strangely the volumes settings on all old songs has changed so I am having to go through all songs and do a quick remix as well as re set certian drum kits as I cant use a versin of EZdrumer lite and drumcore 3 anymore as they dont exist
hey ho

Dontcha just love upgrades (or NOT upgrades)

My old iMac did the decent thing and exploded after 13 years. Which although it was expensive to replace at least all the apps actually work now. So many apps didn't work under the very old OS and I couldn't load the latest OS.

Good luck with your updates!

Re:upgrading GB

I have been using Garageband since 2005 and the constant updates have frustrated me to no ends. I realize I am in the minority here where it is much more about being a technician who can reproduce full productions and sound like a full band or a soundtrack for a movie etc.

Me I am just a failed singer/songwriter who is much more into learning to play my instrument, the acoustic guitar, and trying to sing on key while writing songs which I hope have been somewhat original.

So all I really desire from GB is a nice clean sound that can handle playing guitar and singing on one track and occasionally one or two overdubs from other instruments I play or singing harmony with myself.

It doesn't even provide that anymore or else I just can't figure out how to set it up to get that. And even the little I have used the electronic instruments, I have experienced the same as you that the various GB's are not backwardly compatible and that when you try to plug in your old GB file that it is missing the electronic sound effects.

If anyone knows a very simple recorder for the Mac that will do what I want it to without a lot of learning, please let me know. I do need the ability to record multiple tracks and maybe minimal effects like reverb and echo.

Audacity is a FREE Multi-track Recorder and Editor and fairly simple to use.
