Perhaps what I want to see most of all is for all this talk – and spending – about “Playboy bunnies” to end, and for elected lawmakers to start focusing on the actual issues that face the country.   (Trump paid the girls off out of his own pocket.   If you are a billionaire, you can do that sort of thing, and this certainly will not have been the first time he’s had to do it.   Extortion can be profitable whether you are in politics or real estate, as Monica-L also observed.)

No one is talking about, for example, why no one in America can go to the hospital without risking bankruptcy.   No one seems concerned that the “defense budget” is well on its way to topping one quadrillion USD a year.   No, the one and only thing you see overhead are the buzzards, circling.

“Gentlepeople, this is why she lost!”

No one but you has so much as mentioned the hush money payments or HRC. If you don't want to talk about them...don't.

While you may have been engaged elsewhere, there has long been an aggressive conversation centered on topics like affordable universal health care, decreased defense spending, corporate accountability, campaign finance reform, and regulatory oversight. If you've missed it, it may be possible you've been traveling in the wrong circles.

Yes, I’m afraid that you have indeed hit the nail upon its head, Smokey ... for every single prophecy that Five-Star (hint:   “you can’t earn six ...”) General “Ike” Eisenhower tried to warn us of, way back in January 1961, has come true with a vengeance.   Not only have “fine, well-equipped hospitals” been utterly abandoned, but today’s Americans can’t even walk into one.

Yes, they stare uncomprehendingly as their children are confronted (I kid you not ...) with “half-a-million dollars in debt” to pay for the same college degree that cost them less than $3,000 ... and they marvel at a “national debt™” that is now supposed to figure into the hundreds of trillions ...

They are confronted with the consequence of the Dodd-Frank repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act as they find that they cannot get a loan ... that their communities have been over-run with “Title-Pawn / Payday Loan” vendors ... and that they cannot renew their property insurance once they are misfortunate enough to have actually filed a claim.   (Ditto the drivers who have ever had a damned-fool run into them ...)

... and, “they damned-sure smell a rat” ...

...

... even though they see that they are now confronted with “Swamp™ Rats” who cannot perceive that anything could possibly be wrong.   Not only do they perceive absolutely nothing wrong with the “pre-2016 years,” but they are clearly bound-and-determined to return the nation to it, as though such an infernal status quo was ... inevitable, and somehow pre-ordained.

Thus, “the American Democratic Party, Incorporated” now hurls itself to its next doom, exactly as first occurred in 2016 and for the selfsame reasons.   They developed and established their power in the nation’s densely-populated coast-lands (both oceanic and interior), but ignored – and still ignore – the heart-lands.   So, they self-blindly soldier on, so certain now that they can “swiftly fix things.”   And they remain surrounded, as always, as before, by a phalanx of “yes men” who will not bite the hand that feeds them and so will dare not tell them “no.”

The re-election of Donald Trump in 2020 is now a certainty.   And the Democrats have only themselves – once again(!) – to blame.   Yes, they apparently can find tens of millions of taxpayer dollars with which to pay lawyers to fund what will turn out to be (once again ...) a hopeless quest, but ... in the end ... “they haven’t actually got a cucking floo.”

“Two years after their ‘done deal’ imploded, and however-many weeks or months after their ‘Watergate 2.0 certainty’ vaporized, they once again cower in impotent horror, desperately hoping that ‘Russian interference’ will come to the rescue as ... as ... ... as ... OMG™ ... OMG™ ... (!!! !!! !!!)

Ugh ... sometimes it sucks to be a prophet.   But right now I can see the next six years of my nation’s future, clear as a bell.

These comments could not be more severely detached from reality.

It is the Democrats whose platform encompasses single payer health care and Medicare expansion. Were it not for Joe Lieberman and the Republicans the healthcare bill passed in 2010 would have been much closer to that goal.

In the recent Georgia governor's race it was the Democrat who fought on a platform of expanding medicare coverage to half-a-million of the state's poorest citizens and the Republican who opposed it.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/15/stacey-abrams-brian-kemp-fight-over-medicaid-expansion-in-georgia.html

That's the same Brian Kemp who shamefully refused to recuse himself from overseeing his own election.

The problem you are having is that there is an objective reality about which you seem either terribly under-informed or determined to distort, even though doing so will ultimately be counter productive to the goals you claim to want accomplish.

Please clutch to these principles.   Please do.   After all, the obstacle is not the things that people dare to say, but the people who dare to say them.

No Mike, that is not an ad hominem. It is a comment specifically related to my observations on the counter-evidentiary assertions you had just made. It is relevant to your position, not to your person.

No, Mike. Ad Rem.

Your beliefs, your theories, your opinions, without regard for contradictory facts, evidence or empirical reality render your words fanciful at best — and wildly sophistic at worst. Brian rightfully and accurately called you out on this point.
