Purchasing a midi controller to use with GB Version 4
Friday, December 28 2007 @ 07:38 AM CST

I have been using GarageBand for a while now, and am looking purchase a midi contoller. I dont want to spend a fortune, but i dont want to end up with a cheapo version that causes more headaches!

I mainly make Hiphop and funk music.

Can anyone recommend a midi contoller? I was looking at an Edirol PCRM30 32-Key USB MIDI Controller?

Many thanks

I use two M-audio controllers. The Axiom 49, which cost 275 online, and works great.
But I started out with the keystation 49, which i got off craiglist for 50. That thing delivered the goods for months before i upgraded. I would recommend what ever items in their product line that appeal to your needs and your budget. Terrific performance out of that company.

I have the M-Audio Axiom 25, which I got because of the wemi-weighted keys and all the cool knobs and wheels you can use to manipulate your midi sounds. I had limited space, but if you dont Id go with a bigger board. So with that said I second the Axiom 49. It blends well with garageband. . check out some of the forums and get GarageRemote with it for sure (a free patch of sorts that makes it more compatible with garageband).

Good Luck!
