Geez...

makes me think about this whole music making hobby a little differently. I wonder howmuch you'd actually make from each song sale. Anyone have an idea?

I certainly have no idea. My guess is that it would be approximately not very darn much, give or take.

But I do have a suggestion: Keep writing for the writing, and don't let the possibility of making money selling your music on iTunes motivate you at all. If some comes in, fine, but I would think it'd be a mistake to shift the focus of composing from that which currently motivates us individually to using composing as a way to make money. It's not that it can't be done, it's just that compositions will benefit by keeping the motivation clean.

Just keep writing. If money wants to come in, fine.
