with words let's take them down!

i'm not ready to fall down quite yet
my blood is thin and my eyes are sore
i'm hanging on my cross of freedom
looking down at it all
why do we only have 2 presidents to vote for? (in reality)
why do we not have 6 weeks of vacation?
why are we scared to speak up?
when we know it's all wrong

what if someone said
let's take from the rich and give to the poor
what if someone said
life is given to all of us

let's make a good decision
with words let's take them down
let's make a real decision
with ideas let's change our ground

what if we where in peace but not always in war?
what if we where good would people treat us as if we was?
money, oil, lawyers, missing children, ozone hole
who needs a big brother?
who loves capitalism?
big brother?
who wants an early retirement?
who loves one and another?

You've got a real edge going here musically, stylistically
and lyrically. The distortion and dissonance set the tone
early. You've got a nice big feel on the chorus. Love the
bass solo. There just aren't enough good rock 'n' roll bass
solos. I like how you have plenty of harsh emotion in the
vocals in the opening and second verses that goes right
into the smooth vocals of the chorus. Again, it creates a
real split stylistically.

I've noticed more and more politically and socially themed
songs here on MacJams and I must say I am very pleased.
But it also amazes me just how much anger there is about
the state of affairs in this country in particular. I find
sometimes that I have so much anger when it comes to
the state of affairs in this country that I just have to shut
myself off and, the Orwellian voice in my head says that's
just what "they" want. Needless to say, I think you're right
on with the sentiment of this song.

BTW, I think the first four lines of social commentary I've
seen in a while. Great job Mikki.

A great title
Great communist anthem. The dark side of Imagine. Very
cool guitar work. Your production is getting very good. Full
of emotion and passion. The Pink Floyd instrumental break
was a little slow without the light show, but I dug the
moment to stop and contemplate a while. I dug the vamp
fade a whole lot. Another provoking concept track that
works. Really nice. (what if the only sanctioned violence was
self-defensive? what if we each owned ourselves, truly, thru
and thru? what if we weren't afraid to not just speak our
minds, but act our minds? what if all music was as cool as

jgurner> I totally agree on the usage of Bass, it's an
awesome instrument, one of my favorites for sure! As far
as this country, generally it's easier to speak about where
you are located, but no country stand out as good, really.
Of course, since I am from Europe, I do get news both
from here as well as abroad and it amazes me how false
news media is - everywhere, or at least are not telling the
complete story.

tobin> Thank you. I am getting more secure in my
productions, I am glad you notice. Of course, I would not
give this anthem to the Communists or any other political
color, so I'll stick to the dark side of Imagine! :) You are
raising good questions!

I really like the atmosphere at the start it sort of reminds me
of U2s Bullet the Blue Sky. The chorus is an interesting
juxtaposition with the other parts of the song. Like the
lyrics- I think the song as a whole does them justice!

Very good Mikki!!
