Lyrics
Jesus spits, spits in the dust,
Spits on a Saturday. Jesus!
Jesus spits, spits in the dust
Spits on a Saturday. Jesus!

I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind but now I see

He takes his hands
Mixes up the mud
Puts it on the blind man's eyes
He takes his hands
Mixes up the mud
Puts it on the blind man's eyes.

(Chorus)

Just as long as I'm in this world
I'm the light of the world.
Just as long as I'm in this world
I am the light of the world.

Jesus told the blind man
'Wash your eyes'
Wash them in light of God.
Jesus told the blind man
'Wash your eyes'
Wash them in the light of God.

I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind but now I see.

The blind man sees,
He sees the light
He was fixed by the love of God.
The blind man sees,
He sees the light,
He was fixed by the love of God
He was fixed by the love of God, etc

(Chorus)

The Pharisees came
Shook their heads
No healing on the Sabbath day!
The Pharisees came
Shook their heads
No healing on the Sabbath day!

'Was this man blind?
Who healed this man?
Who did this job?
Healing on the Sabbath day!'
No healing on the Sabbath
Healing on the Sabbath
Healing on the Sabbath day!

(Chorus)

Wash your eyes!
See the light!
Wash your eyes!
See the light!

We've been fixed by the love of God
We've been fixed by the love of God
We've been fixed by the love of God...

Well, I liked this a lot...
before with the first version. And with this expanded version
there is even more to like. I am so impressed with this song.
It is one of a minority of songs on this site that I think really is
deserving of a 10 in Originality/Creativity. With your vocal
harmonies you really provide a fun and enjoyable view of this
well-known Bibilical story. To be D/L-ed when I get home
later....

Well, I liked this a lot...
Thank you, MacJammer-of-the-week. This piece was actually inspired by a
sermon from the Rector at our church, Mother Bennett, earlier in the year.
Glad you enjoyed the 'expanded version.'

Bigger than ever
The additions you made really bring this to a real gospel climax. It fills
the room with that great revivalist energy. Great job of enhancing this,
Tom.

Impossible to stay unaffected
It's impossible to stay unaffected by your creations Tom! They pass all the
defences and goes staight to the heart. This time it also struck me that I
feel how your voice carries a very strong message in it self, apart from the
lyrics, hope you understand what I mean, (guess other listeners do).

The new gospel finale is just hot, just great! Hard not to rush up dancing
and singin along!

For me, the story of the man born blind reveals a great truth, that we are all
made whole by love. We are 'fixed by the love of God.' Thanks for listening,

You're just so good at this...
I'm sitting here a-shaking my head and smiling ear-to-ear.
The close harmonies, the 'color' of blended voices and instruments....the contagious *joy* with which you make music like this. Marvelous.

And listening to this after work before the drive home is just perfect. I'll be singing along with the chorus in my head the whole way!

...Was blind but now I see!

Thanks for sharing this expanded version. :)

Moving
to the beat is the only option. So catchy and great to listen to, with some very bold and moving singing. What a great revision. Nice harmonies, and I really like the way the song builds to it's beautiful conclusion. Really digging this Tom!

Impossible
not to be intoxicated and captivated by this. I hadn't listened to the first
version in quite some time and don't remember it being this B-I-G BIG.
Outstanding production... and the great production pales in comparision
to the impassioned singing.

This is terrific in every way. Downloaded.

10 for the lyrics!
Jesus spits, spits in the dust, spits on a Saturday! Yes. I like very much
this way of introducing the story.
But I'm a bigger fan of god spell than I'm of gospel :D, I can't judge it
musically, therefore. Very good the close harmony vocal arrangement,
though.

Thanks, rik. Glad you like the lyrics. The piece started out acapella, but I kept
adding instruments, and then orchestration. I appreciate the comments.

Welcome Back
Two songs in eight days (even if they are do-overs) means your
welcome back to Crazytown is now official. Your certificate (suitable for
framing will arrive in the afternoon post. I look forward to seeing you
at the top of the "Loser List," soon.

Seriously though, it's such a joy to see you back here and I hope this is
the re-start of something beautiful. I have nothing helpful to say about
this wonderful song. My only comment was, "This song needs
tamborine," but as soon as I had the thought, the tamborine came in.

So, I'm usesless for anything but praise, which this song deserves piled
upon it. (Insert big pile of praise).

I just loved it, Tom. Thanks so much for posting your music. I look
forward to it so much.

Glorious...
So, the Fifth Blind Boy of Alabama went missing and turned up on MJ.
This was great first time around, but THIS?. It's so absurdly joyful, and
the line "Jesus spits..." has that really visceral, unrestrained, strange
American gospel wildness to it. It builds and builds and builds. I was
smiling like an idiot by the time it finished.

Glorious...
'...unrestrained, strange American gospel wildness' -- I really enjoyed reading
that description, Wm. I was hoping for some kind of gospel wildness in this
piece. Thanks for listening and for that comment.

Good
A person can tell this piece is definately inspired... Has some heart to it. My only concern is that in some areas the background vocals seem to lag the tempo a bit. I noticed in the beginning and near the end. In the middle, it was fine. I just thought I'd be upfront about that... but other wise, great song!!

Good
Good ears, Aaron. There were some sync problems transferring the vocals
from the digital 8-track I used to record them to Garage Band. I eventually
used Final Cut Pro trying to get the timing back. For the most part it worked,
but there are a couple of spots where the background vocals do lag. Thanks
for listening!

great production quality!
i love the balance of things--a couple of "minor" critiques... there's a
couple of moments (very few) where it feels like a rhythmic phasing
happens and then recovers. The driving choir is good but starts to
grate--i'm wondering if there can be a variation at some point to continue
to keep it interesting. i love it each time the number is kicked up a notch
(like toward the end with the horns). Outside of that, a nice strong tune!

Southern Gospel
This track has that southern tent revival feel. I think you aced
the vocals. Very solid track, indeed.

WOW
I really enjoy this - the energy, performances and production are
wonderful, Tom. This is the last song I'll be listening to for a while today
since anything else I listen to after this (for a while at least :)) will suffer in
comparison.
Macaudion said 5015 days ago (October 26th, 2005)
I'm laughing!
This is good, Tom. Almost stripped bare and closer toward the purest
essence of your talent and from whence your ability to create came... I
like that in the beginning, your vocals... And then further away, from
the middle and toward the end, instrumentation accompaniment, your
talents fly... I'm laughing again...

This is just outrageously, good!

Thank!
