Simple Acoustic song that I added some midi effects to. Still working on getting a mixdown that I like. Any comments are appreciated and encouraged. Thanks for listening

Maybe I should knock down your door
And give you what I know you've lost before
Or maybe I could be you in my head
And forgive my self for everything I've said

But I'm still holding on
But I knew you were gone
And I thought I was stronger than this
But I was as wrongas I've ever been

I can't escape the ghost i left behind
keeps on running through my mind
and every memory stuck in time reminds me
of what I cannot find

You where never one to give things back
so when you tok my hand then that was that
And you were laughing when I told you where i went
I guess I should have asked just what that meant

I may be out of my head but its out of my hands
And the way you looked at me I thought you'd understand
Now it's up to me to span this gap
Between reality and where I'm at

Nice tune
I really enjoyed this despite a few problems. The bottom line is you have writtten a really good song and the lyrics are excellent.

Your voice is clean and sweet so watch out for your pitch - you went out of key a few times. This song is worth the effort, so do a bunch of takes until you nail it. The guitar is too low in the mix. The music itself is beautiful and needs to come up higher. It's okay to drop it back a bit under the vocals but you should let it grow to hold the song up more.

As I listened to this song I could actually hear it build in my head, with drums and bass and another guitar coming in midway through. Dude, this song would be killer with a full arrangement. Add a short instrumental break and some vocal harmonies and you have a hit.

You should really work on this one because your strating point is so strong. If you're ever interested in a collaboration I'd love to work with you on it.

I could hear this on the radio I think.

Nice tune
Thanks for the comment, I would love to build this song up. I've just started
recording with garageband and am basically learning as I go how to add
different elements to my songs. Any tips or advice is deeply appreciated.

Good work
I liked this song, you've got many full realized ideas here. I can hear room for many different types of arrangements, depending on how far you wish to take it from the acoustic, it works well simply like this. If it were to stay like this, I could hear some more under-layers of instruments, sort of like what you've got going on with the MIDI "ghosting". If it were to venture far from this path, it would lend itself well to a full band arrangement, saving most of the punch for the end. You've got a great voice, very expressive, clear and earnest. With so many melodic choices, some are stronger in your head than others, and your voice follows the strong lines favorably; while some of the lesser developed lines reveal the occasional flatted note. You've got the range - it's just a matter of knowing when you're going to be leaping up there, as with most new songs - once you've decided on the route, it will be easier to traverse it with practice. Definitely a winner of a tune and a great demo performance.

Good work
Thanks dreadmon. I will definately work on keeping my vocals in key. You bring
up a lot points that I hadn't thought of. Thanks again for listening and
commenting, as a beginner I rely on comments like these to help me rise to the
next level.

You are really right on...
Another awesome ballad..very inspired lyrics and full of emotions.

You have a very young voice and yet your music has a very mature
sensibility to it. Your voice is your best instrument, and except for a
couple of tail-off notes that went slightly astray, your vocals are clear,
pin-point accurate, soaring and heartfelt.

I'll be keeping a close watch of your future creations. I'm an instant fan
after hearing your two songs.

Again high marks! I can't believe you have not been given your due
scores yet.

the pitch issues are so minor i wouldn't even sweat them. Adds some live-sound flavor. Dreadmon's comments are right on point as far as vocal performance goes, and based on some other things he's said he's certainly one who's advice to take seriously. Leon pointed me in your direction, and I'm very glad he did. This song is very cool, particularly for an early effort working with the software. Can't wait to hear more tunes from you. I dig your style.

off the charts!
Hey man, this song is one that really just gets you. There's so many ways that this could go, and all of them would be amazing. I could hear an ensemble behind this, or what would sound really cool would be to have a lightly distorted rhythm guitar, a fairly laidback drumbeat could add a hot groove element to it. No matter which way, or even keeping it as is, this tune is just gorgeous. The emotion, the delivery, the very plaintive guitar playing- it's all extremely effective. Much respect.

nice recording on the guitars. i like the vocals, they get stronger as the song goes on and draws you in. they start a little sketchy but than build up really nicely. this song seems to take you with it from the start of the feeling as it grows and you really start to think about it. i think i listened to this one a really long time ago but didn't comment it appears. it would work well with more instrumentation but i've grown a soft spot for simple one piece accoustic tracks.

I write songs, sometimes they mysteriously end up here. I like to express things through songs. All I really play is the acoustic guitar and the occasional midi track. I haven't figured out drums yet, but give me a few years. Garageband is great ... [see more]
