Lyrics
Victoria – Joel Friedman ft. Connor Kates

I’LL LOVE YOU MORE, MORE THAN YOU’LL EVER KNOW
TIME HAS A FUNNY WAY OF LETTING THESE THINGS GO

If you see the paper tree,
Send salutations to this room of haze
I sense a shiver may be sent down like an avalanche
But something has to come of what the joy says

Perling yarns of fire brings no caution to me
The stripes on this shirt speak kilometres
I have a distantly vivid memory of a saint
Maybe my reverie’s an ode to you

I’LL LOVE YOU MORE, MORE THAN YOU’LL EVER KNOW
TIME HAS A FUNNY WAY OF LETTING THESE THINGS GO
WELL, I KNOW YOU’D RATHER RUN AWAY, BUT I BEG OF YOU, CAN YOU CLING TO ME?
RIVERS, RIVERS – VICTORIA, THAT’S ALL THAT I CAN SEE

Dark blankets of shame appear on my side
I know that my vision of you won’t be clear
Still know I will be on the other side, holding your hand
Perhaps, if I feel like it, I’ll ward off your fears

On this vintage eve, on this vintage night
I feel forever, but forever reborn
If only you trusted, if only you trusted
I wouldn’t have to leave you in the morn

Sinking oh-so-slowly, shrugging off my morale
Just let it be known you were warned

STILL, I’LL LOVE YOU MORE, MORE THAN YOU’LL EVER KNOW
TIME HAS A FUNNY WAY OF LETTING THESE THINGS GO
WELL, I KNOW YOU’D RATHER RUN AWAY, BUT I BEG OF YOU, CAN YOU CLING TO ME?
RIVERS, RIVERS – VICTORIA, THAT’S ALL THAT I CAN SEE

I’m the harbinger of the night
I only wish my sunset didn’t scare you
But that’s the price you pay
For mutuality
That’s just life

I’LL LOVE YOU MORE, MORE THAN YOU’LL EVER KNOW
TIME HAS A FUNNY WAY OF LETTING THESE THINGS GO
WELL, I KNOW YOU’D RATHER RUN AWAY, BUT I BEG OF YOU, CAN YOU CLING TO ME?
RIVERS, RIVERS – VICTORIA, THAT’S ALL THAT I CAN SEE

VICTORIA…

Great vocals! Cool harmonies! The music is excellent as always! I like the trippy beats and effects with the organ. This vox fits this perfect! KIller job in the attic snarbles!

Song Noir.
Hey, Joel. This is a very cool noir-ish kind of song! There is some dark,
shadowy cinematic drama going on here, as the song art suggests. As
always, your rhythm and instrument playing are impeccable, but what sets
this apart from your other pieces is the vocals, which I think is
outstanding. My only suggestion is to bring the vocals a little bit more to
the foreground. It seems slightly drowned out in some parts. Overall,
quite a splendid listen, and I'm adding it to my select list of downloads.
You guys should be coming up with more of this theme or genre.

Leon!!
Thanks for the kind word!
I don't work with vocals too often, actually this is only my 3 song ever to include
them. And yes, I could probably bring them out just a teensy bit more. There's
alot of sound competing against each other for clarity, and this has been the
best mix I've come up with yet..
Someday we'll write something

Genres
Gee, well my first reaction would be Trip Hop. My second would be to create a
new genre and call it Noir because thats really the sound we agree on. I really
wish
there was a Trip - Hop section in Genres though...
Thanks for listening
Joel

Awesome
This song is great... Very creative... A fine blend of classic and modern
sounds. The vocal work is impressive. This is an instant favorite. One of
best I've heard hear in Macjams.
Kudos.

Great production on so many levels
I love the creative energy and had I not called you a genius before, I'd do it again. And your friend has a truly interesting and strong voice. Works extremely well with the music you did. Excellent mix. Hope you guys get a chance to do more projects. By the way, for all I know, 2 days is NOT a long time for a project like this at all. Well worth it too, if I may say so myself.

A hash
I really dig the vocals, the melodic content and lyrics interplay. They carry
the track and deserve an arrangement to match. The drumming creates a
hash of it all, in my ears, especially the high end swishy stuff. The drum
set is ok, altho too loop-repetitive for me; I'd have preferred jazz fusion
set playing non-repeating real sounding hip drumming. The processed
effects on the cymbals made me nauseous by the mid way point, but it
was a long weekend...

Words of Wisdom
Always a pleasure to recieve feedback from an MJ elder such as you Mr. Tobin.
Thanks for stopping by this little corner of the site, I'll see what I can do to ease
the nausia. The problem with the repetivity is that I only had one 4 bar drum
loop to work with. I did what I did and created something I think works just fine.
A difference of taste I guess..

Love the FX
The great little echoing nuances and the telephone effect on the vox.
Great verses and chorus. If you remix this one, please bring the treble
down and push the bass WAY up. The high hat hits kinda hurt the ol' ears.
I'm sure that's an easy fix. This is a great tune, dude!!! The vox remind
me of Richard Cheese. Great lounge feel.

Mastering woes
Ah yes, an easy fix that WOULD be. only then I'd have to delete the song and
lose comments. *sigh*, I wish there was a way to keep the profile but replace the
song...

thanks for the ears

Great writing...
...and really nice vocals.

As always, your production is top notch. But I have to admit that the
effects on the drums are too much for my taste.

Very nice piece of music, nontheless!

Gad!! what Great VOX...
this is super. So... so cool. I am shakin' my head in grinning
amazement. What an original track with yet a retro kind of feel. Nice
bridge you throw in there... jeesshh... great songwriting... great
production. I guess, one could say... I kinda like this song. Done.
cheers...

whoo!
Dang, that was sure sweet. The whole noir angle (with a guy singing instead of a woman) is really cool. I thought the percussion gave it a nice edge... the treble issues didn't bother me, but I was listening on speakers and not on headphones. I think the only suggestion I have would be to take the effects off the vocals and it may help to warm it up a bit.
