Lyrics
Dominus Proboscis

His large nose
senses no mystical realm,
no god,
no hope,
no aroma of love.

With dulled senses
he stumbles
'cross small divides,
never seizing the day,
never reaching for stars.

He cannot adjust
his lifelong habits
to forestall disaster.
The assailant can surely
snatch away all.

His attitude stinks.
His muscles are atrophied.
His mind is anemic.
He is unable and unwilling
to embrace his neighbors.

He is an automaton
who spins out his days
in grief,
in despair,
incommunicado.

He is an easy mark,
a sitting duck,
to be bagged and diced,
skewered and fried,
consumed and regurgitated.

Lord, help the man!

Does a mother weep?
Does a beggar sleep?
Is the child frail
from a lack of ale?

Are your nails too long
to play this song?
Do the wicked win
or do they lose with Satan?

pronunciation
BTW, I know I am pronouncing the Latin "proboscis" incorrectly but "pro-bah-skis" doesn't flow as nicely as "pro-boh-shees". My apologies to Sr. Pacifica. Proboscis means feeding tube or snout and is sometimes used to describe an extreme nose on a person. The phrase "Dominus Proboscis" is a silly play on words: i.e. "Lord Nose" which sounds like "Lord Knows". My apologies to Sr. Ballistica.

Great collab!
Wow Rich! Sounds like you're channeling Jim Morrison in places. Excellent vox! Excellent music! Excellent play on words! I think I like this one! (God knows).

Be well!

pairing up
Thanks, Alex. So, I didn't go overboard? With EZ's original soundtrack, some people said it was lulling theme into a deep meditative state. I guess I felt the need to wake them up - a supercharged salt spray over a deep, broiling ocean. This was a lot of fun. Thanks for listening, everyone.

WICKED-SICK, as my daughter would say...
which seems to mean "Great, wonderful" these days (I feel the tectonic upheaval of the generation gap!) EZ's music did turn out to be a great backdrop for this, good raw powerful music... I still think there should be a little more bass in there (the drums still feel a little thin.) Since Richard's singing is a little higher than usual, adding some ethnic-ish bass percussion (udu?) or boosting the bassiness of the bass synth a little wouldn't hurt. But Richard did a super job of fitting great lyrics into this piece, and I loved the Latent Latin play on words. For some reason, the fun quirkiness of Richard's singing reminded me ever so slightly of our dear MIA Troy. And the lyrics reminded me a bit of the Dwarves at the end of the "Narnia" books. Very well done, you two!

Yes sir, your words are music to our ears. We appreciate your thoughts and comparisons. Troy-like? I guess that's not a bad thing. We'll take that.

drakonis mix?
schletty sent me his a capella vox track for this (which could very well stand on its own), and i've been wanted to revise my backing track to come up with a final mix. but if you're interested, drak, we could send you the files to remix? let me know.

loved it
First great job on the music, it was a nice stew of theatre, ambient, & electro pop. The string pads and the mallet on pipe sounds blended nicely.

Mr. Schletty - you are amazing. I see below its no strecth and I am a believer. You tackle all different styles with such finesse. loved the scream :-)

thanks to all.
thanks for the nice comments, everyone. i truly think schletty's vocals shine on this one--that scream still blows me away! i've been meaning to come up with a version that might compliment the vocals a little better, but i haven't had a chance to get around to doing it.

Clever
Not many songs on MJ are nearly as clever as this one. I like the lyrics, the super way the vocals are delivered, the heartbeat like music. Everything works well together. Thanks to both of you.
