that's we call notes. nice production mungo! (you don't hear that often in referrence to a joan song.) we've said it before you are the fifth joan, or eighth or ninth.....we've lost count. the Beer Baron of the Bronx is passed out in his grave.

Thank you, person of JOAN
I had a lot of fun with this piece, 'colorizing' it. The original recording was good, I sent the original JOAN audio file to some buses where I played around with filters, effects and EQ, then sent my own contribution through the same buses.

I feel like the dude in picture.
The groove is nifty, and the whirly gig effect on the right channel is smile-inducing. I think the guitars are a bit too loud for my tastes though. Jangly and mental indeed.

Blat!

Thank you, Greg
I love that twittering noise too - it's the result of a couple of filters I put on one of the buses I'm sending the some of the audio through. It gives the track a demented 'nature' feel that I thought went along with the title "Lost World".
I'm boosting the freqs the guitars are playing in a bit ... I think it's because there isn't usually guitar in my music so I'm making up for it (More seriously, I'm also working from a single audio file of the original performance and am not experienced enough to adequately isolate its various sonic elements so that boosting the snare and bass doesn't also raise the level of the guitars.)

Restricted areas and single tracks
I understand the troubles you're trying working around, and I don't know how to solve your problems that this single track live performance issues brings up.

I didn't mean to sound picky or overtly critical; I was just noting what my ears picked up.

cheers,
g

I Understand
You didn't sound overly citical ... I just wanted to explain my production a bit, in case you or someone else reading this exchange had some advice for future efforts.

how many
men does it take to make a JOAN>? what guitars? who was doing all that twirling? are we there yet?
said 4594 days ago (November 25th, 2006)
I Like It
when cheerleaders do the twirling. I like being a Brian Eno for JOAN. ;)
(Actually, I'm more like a go go dancer in a cage rather than Brian Eno.)
Thank you for listening and commenting, person of Mudmen.

Welcome to the School of JOAN, Vic
They've been schoolin' me. It's always great fun to have the opportunity to play around with one of their performances. It helps that we share a certain musical sensibility and we all listened to similar music in our sonic youths.
I look forward to me and Herr doing a duet version of "Rainy Days and Mondays".

Thank you, Eric
Reading a letter explaining to me that I've inherited a castle in Ireland that also happens to have a wine cellar full of gold bricks that is also next to the European Home for Beautiful Women who love having conversations about pizza toppings, guitar solos, algebra, monster and mobster movies after engaging ....
Sorry there, I got distracted about a better way to spend time (but that's over a few minutes).
