Cool!
Nice set of chords that come together here! Very dissonant, yet calming at the same time. Worth developing some more with some other sounds worked in. Wind chimes might work or a cymbal at the right moment.

Bronco, Thanks for listening and posting!
Bronco,

Good to hear from you and thanks so much for listening and posting. I agree its dissonant as its free form as I do
not know how to read music and play by ear.

I did think of adding additional parts/instruments to it but I kept
feeling the vibe to leave it alone . I have it archived so I
may work with it some and see what happens. I am almost done
with another piece that I hope to post in the near future,
doing some editing and mixing and adding and taking away parts. I have several versions archivedon hat one and am getting close to posting that one.
Thanks Again for Listening and Posting
Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

A Nice Beginning to Something...
David,

Quite a set of chords & notes you have put together there. I like the pulsating tone you are using on the Korg Toneworks. At the end it feels like the song should be ready to shift gears into some kind of a faster beat joined by other instruments, maybe piano or ??

Keep up the good work and have a great 2007!

John, Thanks for Listening and Posting
John, I agree that this is a skectch(if that is the right term) rather than perhaps a full song, but as I mentioned in
Bronco's reply I felt strongly to post it as is. It was
like the music was coming through me then stopped so I followed the vibe/instinct. The music coming through me may sound hokey but I realy felt it was like that, I had no real plan, Had thought I had finished for the evening and this came out in one take and then I double tracked it for some volume leveling. I do have it archived and may work with it.
I am getting ready to finish what was the first piece (I have
not been on macjams for some time nor even playing so it
feels good to put a piece up.
Thanks again for listening and posting.

very ethereal
I like the colors you've put out here - and the unhurried, yet determined rhythms. This definitely stands on its own as a meditative piece and I can see you adding some layers to it to really give it some dynamic heft. The only thing is you've got a substantial amount of line noise here - could be from the signal processor? You could probably cut some of that using the GB EQ, maybe using a shelving filter or something of that nature. Good work!

Agree about the Noise
Dreadmon,
Thanks for listening, Posting and adding insight to the line noise issue. I am not sure where it came from, When I was finished (I thought) in Gb) I had elimated the noise using
the GB noise gate and I did use some EQ as well. I have never recorded with this paricular processor before, I had it running on AA batteries ( A 9volt adapter is available)
I bought it on closeout for a really good price. I am also wondering about the guitar as I normally do not use single coil pick ups and I used the coil tap on this guitar (Schecter
Tempest) that I won in a online contest! I could not get the same sound using HB so I went with the single coil.

I will experiment with the signal chain and try some differnt EQ settings or a different EQ (I have several in AU
format from downloads or CD's that come with magazines.
It is a mystery that the noise came back when I bounced it over to Itunes to convert it to a MP3 for uploading.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment.
I have another piece pretty close to completion(I actually planned to post it first but this one was less complex
so I posted it to get back in the swing of things.
Have a Safe and Happy and Creative New Year!

Sorry for the delay, nice to hear you back on MJ
Rebs and I went off to visit her parents around the time you posted this and we've not been back long, so apologies for the delay in me commenting. It looks like you've had a fair bit of feedback already so there's not a lot to say.

Reminds me a little of Steve Hackett, The Durutti Column, or maybe something with more of an American edge to it (perhaps not surprisingly). There's a warm rich sound here despite the dissonance.

I think this could be the beginning of something rather than the end product, but I can appreciate that sometimes you just feel compelled to post stuff. I'm no tech expert so I can't offer anything about the line hiss, though unfortunately it is a little bit annoying, spoiling what is otherwise a very nice piece.

Happy New Year to you and your family and I hope that 2007 doesn't go by without us working on something.

Ian, Thanks for Posting and Listening
Ian,
Very Good to hear from You and Glad you were able to visit
Rebsie's parents. Always good to visit family and to get away
from home, refreshing. I do agree completely that the noise/hiss whatever it is is very annoying and where it is in the signal chain has not yet been determined. I have the piece
archived and plan to work on eliminating that annoying sound
so that it does not happen again and then this piece should sound better as well. It was eliminated in macjams but came back in the MP3 conversion, I suspect either the single coil
I used in the guitar (utilizing the coil split of the humbucking pick ups or ? the processor as I have not recordeed with it before. I also used some effects from GB2
so I am unsure where its coming from.

this piece/post came out of some guitar playing after I had
worked for awhile on another piece that I hope to post soon
I still had some energy but had no further ideas that night for the other piece so i just did some riffs in one take
then double tracked to correct some volume issues(L verus R)
It couldbe as you say be the beginning and not the end and while working on removing that awful noise I may add some different guitar sounds or some midi software instruments
to it, Will have to see.

I agree that we should not let 2007 pass without working together on a piece. I will let you know when the new post goes up on MJ its yet untitled.
I am interested in the Band Durutti Column, I have not heard of them (other than from you) nor any of their music,
I will do a Internet search for the band and any music
songs or song bits depending on tthe site. I rely on our local library which is pretty good at stocking CD's both popular and somewhat alternative music (they do have a great Blues collection) but no Durutti Column. Nothing at the local stores either but the small indie stores locally have all been driven out of business by the big box stores that sell TV's, IPods and Cd's of Bands of the Week.

Good to hear from You and hope your back is feeling better.
Take Care
