Small Setback - Under The Hood

 Genre: Informational

Get Flash to see this player.

"Small Setback" was created by starting from a few JamPack 4 GarageBand loops and modifying them.

This is an audio demonstration showing an A/B comparison of each of the original loops followed by my modifications.

the original Desire A Violas
the modified loop

the original Escape C Cellos
the modified and expanded loop

the original Desire A Cellos
the modified loop

the original Desire A Violins 2
the modified and expanded loop

the original Classical Piano Right Hand 100
the first modified loop
the second effected loop
the third modified loop

the original Capitol B French Horns
the first modified loop
the second modified loop

The Capitol C Orchestral Kit and Jazzy Rock Drums 06 were used unchanged, and do not appear on the demo.

I hope this demonstration provides a little insight into how I've created a few of my songs.

perhaps this might sway a few anti-loop people into at least reconsidering their position?

thanks for commenting.

Thanks Bill
I think you have a real future in instructional CD's - I could listen to your voice and samples all day. Very relaxing - like a walk through the Met.

I hav been just starting to dabble with modifying loops
i am having some trouble understanding how to add notes. sometimes the mouse click wont add notes
do i have to work in record mode or can i work the loop while it stands still.
can you give me some insights
drop me a note if you can
i also am still interested in a collab but have been a bit swamped with this and that.
can you give me a hint of the chord or chords that make up that main(piano or is it vibs) loop on Nocturnal remission and the tempo
for some reason that moves me to want to do something. it sounds like it needs a next part if that makes any scents.
just call me crazy
thanks for sharing this
i started a project with you advice on dropping loops and then seeing how they work together...i used the right hand piano 100 as a starting point so it is cool to here what you have don with it here
i'll keep going
long enough comment?

i've never noticed notes not getting added. i always have the player stopped. i always have the section i wish to edit selected.

just because you can see notes doesn't mean you can add a new one there unless that section is selected. i have noticed that sometimes sections get selected for you, but i'm sure if you can count on that always happening.

also: if you have looped a section, you can see the notes in the repeated parts, but you can't edit them there (or add new notes there). maybe that's what is happening?
