nice piece. is that a slowed down accoustic guitar in the middle? i like the reverb you used as well. sounds like a live performance at a club, with someone on a laptop sitting in. excellent. i would like to hear it about twice as long.

that loop is Brazilian Bossa Guitar 04 - from the World Music Jam Pack - played at 90BPM - the original is 125 BPM...

i was going for a narcotic mood, the BPMs and reverb seemed to fit the bill...

i could have made this thing go on for 30 minutes, and it was heading that direction, but i was afraid it went on a bit too long as it was...

thanks

Nice tune Bill
I hear a little bit of the band called Looper in here. Unusual mix of tonalities and pitches - kind of detuned at points. I like the way it seems to resolve itself throughout the song - becoming more accessible over time.

it took a little doing to collect a set of loops for this - i ultimately tossed about a 1/3 of the original set. i discovered how if you mix in the bass loops in the right order, they subtly change how you perceive the chords implied by the rest of mishmash...

there are lots of collisions of notes and chords - but the mood you get from the mix (hopefully) justifies it. -- still not so sure about that uke yet.

thanks for listening!

Dreamy
First of all, "White Tiger" is what I named my song Nataraja, until ledebutant suggested the more fitting name. It's a good name, and great pic to go with it. This gentle tune contrasts with the incredible power of the tiger in an interesting way... like we've caught the giant creatures in a contemplative mood. Perhaps at the waterhole. Te delicacy of this song and the paradoxically heavy/detuned notes make for quite the intersting soundscape.

the pic was initially an alternate meaning of the title - i guess the opposites of ferocity and tranquiliity is what made me choose this pic - these tigers are almost like housecats in their apparent demeanor... so strangely quiet is this picture.

the title comes from street slang. driven by the opiate mood i was trying to create.

i've been getting into over-mixing loops lately. it's a rather cool palette to create with - there are lots of interesting colors and moods that can be formed in this manner...

Interesting
blend of sounds, fairly dissonant in places, but nice flowing rythmn, and some really nice use of instruments,
There is one fairly muddy sounding low 'piano' note that if taken out would just lift the track. but yes, cool soundscape here!

i had loads of fun doing this mix.

yes, i noticed that note too - that's what i hate about real instrument loops: sorry, can't really fix that.

thanks for listening Slimmie

Exploration is fun...
...and you have created a soundfield surrounding the listener.... very "wrapping" sound that has a feel of mischief in a child's room full of toys.

Cheers,
Alimar

you bet. GB is the best toy i've ever had!

although i can justify what i did for the mood, it was in a way a cheat: at the point during mixing when i usually begin to attend to stereo separation, i didn't want to disturb the blending of the sounds, but i also wanted to make a nice full space for headphone listening.

it struck me that using the AU matrix reverb on the master would solve it nicely. so, it's a cheat - mostly this was a mono mix pumped through the reverb to fill it out. when i heard it, i knew i had to keep it that way. i envisioned it sounding like lying on a couch in a big basement room where some friends were jamming across the room with tape loops and stuff, while i was nodding off to sleep...

thanks for listening and commenting

Moody tigre!
Very delicately done - remarkable restraint shown here. Some very good sounds coming from this one. Hiro must have had some pretty good white tigre experiences by the sound of this. Very nicely put together - for me there is a distinct undercurrent of dripping (maybe falling) water.
Like it!!

glad you enjoyed this. i don't personally know what adventures Hiro has had, but i can imagine...

not sure where the water impression comes from - maybe the matrix reverb is introducing that?

thanks!

at least we know the tigers aren't thirsty

glad this evoked dream imagery for you - just what i was going for!

(if you play this ten times normal speed, you can hear how i created the snoring/growling tiger sounds in the beginning and the end of the song.)

thanks Vic

Very nice!
The music has threads of Asia and India including the sound of Buddhist temple bells and rudimentary oriental instruments. The picture is beautiful, but its background seems contrived, like a habitat at the zoo. It reminded me of a late afternoon trip to the zoo. I watched a White Tiger sunning himself, and all of a sudden he got up and began pacing in a repetitive loping oval. And every third time around he would jump up at the door to the habitat, scratch at it and roar in what was obviously impatience. Something occurred to me and I checked my watch. Sure enough, it was exactly 6:02PM and I knew what the White Tiger was saying, "Okay, the freak show is over! Let me in! I want in!" The keeper was late. I felt sad for this beautiful animal being reduced to behaving like a surly housecat. I don't know why it never occurred to me before how it would feel to be that White Tiger so removed from all that should have been natural to him.

quite true. the fate of wild animals in a zoo is rather depressing. i've noticed similar behaviors of captive animals in the past. it's one of the reasons i have not set foot in a zoo in a very long time now. (that pic is from a zoo i think.)

unfortunately their fate in the wild is not much more hopeful as time, and progress, marches on.

but, here, these tigers are imaginary dream objects.

thanks

Maybe
because of the photo, I could see white tigers, proud and unaware that their markings made them stand out. I didn't know about the other meaning. You do unusual things. It has been quite an education. Thanks.
