The Government Song

This is the first complete song I've ever gotten finished. I was recorded in mono and is 100% home-made. The country/barnyard style includes a set of strange sounds, such as stomping, clapping, chickens, tin cans, glass bottles, dogs barking, and squeaky rocking chairs. Actual instruments include Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass and vocals. Overall I probably spent at least 35+ hours recording and mixing the tracks. I am very happy with the outcome despite the limitations of my abilities and resources. I hope you enjoy!

The Government took away my dignity
my debt's become my ball and chain
I used to have rights but its such a pity that
The government took them all away
I just wanna sit in my wooden rocking chair
Relax and read the paper all day
I got no money and I don't think its very fair
Government go away

The Government took away my furniture
I got no place to sit and read
My couch was comfy, where it not I can't be sure
I lost my money-back guarantee
I got no home I got no place to sleep
My Dog ran away with my pickup truck
I got dead skunks rotting in my compost heap
Government you really suck

The Government took away my freedom
Politicians destroyed my state of mind
I remember a time when we didn't need them
But those days are gone ben left behind
I don't like laws I don't like politics
I'm scared of wars cause I hates to fight
And I don't vote cause the candidates are full of it
Government ruined my life

The Government took away my paper
they cut me down said I couldn't read
I don't much care if the civil war's over
cause I think its bout time that I secede

The Government thinks it can run the nation cause
Its big and strong and it ain't polite
But if the Government starts some big confrontation
Then we ain't goin' down without a fight

The government took away my living space
They took my home, my dog, my wife
Them folks got problems and I'll say it right to their face
The Government can't control my life

The Government took away my dignity
My life's become a walk of shame
Things haven't been right since 1950
And that dang government's the one to blame

I just wanna sit in my wooden rocking chair
Relax cause I got no taxes to pay
But my boots got holes and I'm starting to lose my hair
Government go away

Ol' dang Government you sure do know how to make a man bleed and hate his life
The system's got problems and I wish I could show all the trouble you cause with your greed and strife
Thats my Government (Go away)
Thats my Government (Go away)
Yeah thats my government (Go away)
Go away
Go away.

Amazing Use of sounds
The stomps, claps, snaps and cock-a-doodle-doos create a perfect orchestra section for this tune.

This would've worked well in the Woodstock Festival last month.

You have really good songwriting skills.

Really cool.
The "real" percussion adds a refreshing touch to this song. Good job.

I liked this ...

.. I too liked the use of real percussion and other sounds to excellent percussive effect .. in that respect it reminded me a little of "push bike song" by The Mixtures... but there the similarity ends.. very fresh and interesting. Great mix, everything is well recorded.
I might have brought the acoustic down a little .. and a banjo might add something and be in keeping. Welcome to MJs.
