Description
Easy enough to figure out.. Especially if you've ever been there. It's a ballad that is driven by the lyric.

Lyrics
I've had some success and some fame and I guess
even riches as well Heaven knows.
In the down and up swings
of the great scheme of things,
I am very grateful for those.
But above ev'rything that has caused me to sing,
things I've done or that I hope to do,
The times that was best; when my mind was at rest,
was the time when I was with you.

When I recall your face,
that smile you gave me then
I go back to a place
I'd like to be again.

through all the good and bad
I'll know my whole life through
The best time that I had
was the time I was with you

That thought creates a rhyme
that rhyme creates a song
A song about the time
when I was where I belong.

your eyes were hazel grey
the skies were azure blue
It was a lovely day
Each day I was with you

I've won a time or two
I've also had some strife
but the time I spent with you
was the best time of my life

Thanks so much
You're very kind.. I realy enjoy working with lyrics, reworking them and getting the rhymes and images right. spent a long time as a professional classical singer, and still do a lot of that. Now that I have positive feedback, some of the other ideas that have been in the back of my head may come out. Google the name sometime. Put it in quotes.
Thanks again. It means a lot to have colleagues like your work.

Sir
What a voice. Loved the song, You don't hear many songs of that nature these days. Very refreshing.
Thank you, Russ

Thanks!
I'm an old guy (61 at last count,) and Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, Yip Harburg, the Gershwins and that group are very fresh in my mind. I also sing and play for lots of different audiences, and when I do, I do standards. Those tunes touch me in a way that more recent music just doesn't.
The stuff I've done before has been politial and funny. Hope to keep doing that too.
Thanks very much for listening.

This sounds like it's from a musical and is tenderly delivered. Great job. Cheers / Mike
