Description
I wrote this work in 2003 for piano and orchestra after feeling inspired whilst in the south of Spain. I couldn't help hearing this music in my head after driving though the write villages, surrounded by olive and almond groves and the beautiful atmosphere of Spanish tranquility.I also have a recording which I am going to upload with the orchestra backing the piano.

You play beautifully. And this composition is gorgeous. I, too, can't wait to hear the orchestrated version. I've also really enjoyed your pieces with your mom. Welcome to MacJams and please keep sharing your great music with us!

great live performance
Caroline pointed me to this page, and it is particularly nice to hear you play a live performance. I've heard several of your excellent accompaniments on the electric piano, but this is even better.

Caroline tells me that you recorded this in a schoolroom. I love the natural quality of the boom and echo of the piano; I feel like I'm the only one sitting in the audience, listening and watching you play.

Very nice concept; you captured the Andalusian atmosphere perfectly. The repeated theme holds the piece together in a coherent way, and you vary it by increasing the intensity towards the end.

There were a couple spots when that loud playing distorted the microphone....or maybe it was my speakers.

I'll be very interested to hear the orchestral accompaniment!

Great job.

Thanks Cameron
Cheers for your comment Cameron! Long time no see! I have missed you! How are things in your part of the world?

There was some hissing in the recording. I recorded it about 5 years ago at my old school in a beautiful hall there. The piano is a full size Steinway worth about £90,000!! However I used a minidisk and sony microphone to record it so it wasn't easy to get the balance right. I will have the orchestral version up soon. I'm gona take a look at what you've been uploading recently. It's been a while since i've heard your music.

Competa
I am not sure exactly which town it is, but I know Competa very well as I and my family once rented a town house for a week there. It was fabulous. It had a huge terrace overlooking the village. Do you know Competa?

It is...
...so nice to hear a concert Steinway played so beautifully...A little echo-y, perhaps, but the warmth of the room is refreshing... i also very much like the composition itself: full of evocative touches of the scene you are trying to paint. What an exquisite pleasure it is to hear such wonderful piano music especially here at MacJams where there are not many of us writing 'classical" pieces.
Peace.
Paul
