Description
It was advised that I become more comfortable w/ the piano and so, this would be my attempt at doing so. Certainly, I haven't yet "arrived" but it's kinda pretty and me never do pretty. This is me being in love. No dark undertones, rhythm or percussive groove stuff, it's just another corny love song, You may need a bag... At some point, I did realize that I was playing percussive instruments (by pencil tool, that is...) and it did make the idea that I needed to do this more palatable. That and the fact that I'm stupid in love and that's what this little tune is all about. Not the stupid part, that just means that I do stupid things while being as such, but i"m figuring it all out, I think.

My disclaimer: I know nothing about how to create a jazz composition, I know nothing about chords, progressions and the such, dissonance nor, do i know anything about love. I know nothing of how to play an upright bass, steel drums and as I kinda mentioned, I know nothing about how to play a piano. There... Wait... and I'm still learning about me too, so...

I do hope that you'll enjoy it. Thanks! Macca

ps. not too happy w/ the piano sound in gb, if anyone knows of a better way, it'd be nice if you shared. thx again

Beautiful
You are one of the most creative people I know. I love the fact that you don't care about boundaries, and just make music. Beautiful.

Out there
What a great (and sometimes bizarre) combination of sounds. I love the little steel drum runs. Piano actually sounds pretty good to me. Very cool.

Here's for stupidity! :)
You be sure to stay stupid in love and keep pumping out the great tunes. While you still have a great percussive feel thanks to the bass and steel drums, it has a much more organic and dreamy quality to it, which is very nice. It's almost as if the tune is a living thing growing in fits and spurts, which is a perfect way, IMHO, to describe our emotional state of being, especially when the "L" word is involved.

The piano is nice. You definitely need to explore it a little more. I've disliked the stock GB pianos, so over the years I've played around with them. Take the Orchestral Steinway, lengthen the sustain, put a good bit of reverb on it and you might like the result a little better. Try a little chorus as well and see if you like it. Hopefully you'll find a setting that you feel good about adding to your arsenal.

Keep on wowing me, buddy. It always makes my day!

You took this to a really neat place....
The bass against the steel drums sounds great... And the whole piece has this deep bass and then these high trebly spangly bits... You'd think it'd be hard to connect them, but it all ends up sounding full... It sounds like you've got a couple different piano sounds going in this...

I used to always say that you got it that percussion instruments are tonal and musical, and now I have to say that you get it that almost all instruments can end up as percussion instruments...

Continued congrats on the whole love thing.... Remember, someday the 'stupid' will fade, but the love will still be there...

This one sounds
more like infatuation!!! But, I'm sure if you work on it some more it will develop into love...........

Also, it reminds me in some parts of the Mirrormask soundtrack. Awesome....

Excellent!
.............. and the music is pretty fine also :) Very happy to hear things are going well Macca.

What you've done here (now I'm talking about the music) is just so cool. I also know nothing about pianos, jazz, and the other stuff you mention, but I do know enough to recognise that in your case it doesn't seem to matter - I'm just guessing that you might have the same successful outcome in love. Now that would be something.

You get such life in your music, and while I find it often very difficult to play along with (must be your jazz technique being different to mine!), I always enjoy the sounds you post here.

Love it

Neil

Like Love
you can't pin it down and like love, this has the apprehensiveness, the stop start feel, the light and the heavy parts and over al,l this is an interesting listen, which is what it should all be about, cheers M

Textured
Space and silence are key instruments here - the music breathes. And textural shifts propel it along its path. I used to do a lot of 'free music' in days of yore (no rules improvisation) and this reminds me of the times when a bunch of musicians would achieve a really satisfying collective vibe despite not following a particular key, progression or rhythmic pattern. Fine work!
