Description
Within a day or two of discovering Garageband in July of 2004, my landlord tried to evict me. While I fumed over the inequity of it, I started writing songs on "that new program I just found". Clicking on that little guitar was a darn good decision.
Fast forward to today and guess what? My landlord is once again threatening eviction. She's been doing it every few months since that very first time in 2004. My apartment is rent-controlled and I pay significantly less than anyone else in this building and in this neighborhood. So she makes up reasons to evict me in an attempt to make my life miserable enough that I'll want to leave.
Although I'm working on something else for the reunion, I decided to capture that first eviction moment in a quick little ditty using my ukulele. Hope you have fun listening!

Lyrics
La la la…
I was angry with my landlord
Her voice was full of threats
"You will be evicted!"
That's as nasty as it gets.
When she left I fumed some
Smoke coming from my ears
Then I called my best friend
And I broke down in tears
La la la…
She said, "This is making you sick
You must find a way to vent
Looked on my Mac
And was taken aback
To find a way to make some music
And to keep me paying rent
I found Garageband
And I never looked back since
La la la…
I found the loops and keyboard
I found some jazzy bass
I found a way to record
Music coming from my face.
I'm singing in the nighttime
And I'm singing in the day
Nothing makes me angry
When I can sing the pain away
La la la…
I was angry with my landlord
Her voice was full of threats
"You will be evicted!"
That's as nasty as it gets.

Smoke coming from my ears

Your background as a voice artist continues to be a great asset to you Joanna. And I can hear the joy in your voice as you sing. And you know how to spell 'ukulele' ... wow, you should be a writer.
Excellent lyrics and uke action. Great to see you around here again ... don't be a stranger. :)
