Description
I like to have my lyrics be the largest element of the song, and have the music back up the lyrics, so i don't really sing very melodically. it feels more natural this way. it's not everyone's cup of tea, but some people like this approach

Lyrics
I had a father,
He left in the winter,
He told me, "My boy you'll be free.

when you raise up your glass
make a toast to the past
then bury it under the street.

There it'll grow,
though cunningly slow,
it'll leave you red skinned and weak.

Yeah, crippled in place,
you'll be quite the disgrace
once it wraps itself around your feet.
don't let it get your feet."

I had a mother,
she was a failed actor.
She'd study the lines on her face.

She told me she loved me
she got down and hugged me
and whispered, "My boy don't you change"

Well, I failed her expectations
all these trials and tribulations
have left me standing cold in the rain

Yeah My voice was once tall,
but now it's so damn small
I can't remember how i sang
I can't recapture how I sang

Well look out
for the words that woman speaks,
the wine on her tongue drives her straight up out of her seat

And she'll say:

I know you once were beautiful
but the moon in the sky, honey it's starting to become full
and it's pulling you towards something greater than yourself

Yeah I know you once were extremely beautiful
but the glimmer in your eyes, hon it's faded like burning coal
and that's not pretty, not for anyone

So let's light it up again,
yeah let's start the fight

I had a sister,
she'd look in her mirror
she told me all beauty will fade

those words, they still haunt me
they shook and they shaped me
they turned me back into clay

well the brown-skinned terrorist
the white-skinned pianist
to me their just the same

standing in the crowds,
looking at the clouds
pretending like they've got something important to say

Well look out
for the words that woman speaks,
yeah the wine on her tongue drives her straight up out of her seat

And she'll say:

I know you once were beautiful
but the moon in the sky, honey it's starting to become full
and it's pulling you towards something greater than yourself

Yeah I know you once were etremely beautiful
but the glimmer in your eyes, hon it's faded like burning coal
and that's not pretty, not for anyone

So let's light it up again,
yeah let's start the fight

Wonderful lyrics
and I really like the loose feel to this that disguises the work you obviously put into it.
Welcome to Macjams.
Cheers
