Lyrics
Put on your traveling shoes
Farewell to the exile land
Get on the plane
Watch the terrain
Give way to the life you planned

Hours pass by while you dream
You’ve already come so far
It’s hard to believe
You’re about to receive
This promise, but here you are

I’m just a man of the road
seeking my promised land
come and get me
and let’s go home
the wind blows away the sand

Ride from the airport to home
Gee, what a wonderful word
A place of your own
You won’t be alone
Here you’ll be seen and be heard!

Breathe a big sigh of relief
Put all your fears to rest
Let music ring out
Dance, sing and shout
Live in sweet love and be blessed

I’m just a man of the road
Seeking my promised land
Come and get me and let’s go home
The wind blows away the sand

Finally arriving at home
Home-what a wonderful word
A place of your own
Now you’re not alone
Now you’re seen and heard

Breathing a sigh of relief
You put all your old fears to rest
Music rings out
Dance, sing and shout
Live in sweet love and be blessed

I’m not a man of the road
I found my promised land
Come, my darling, we have our home
The wind blew away all the sand

as always...
a gorgeous bit of songwriting... and super singing, both of you, sweet mandolin playing Feter, and Roxylee did wonderfully with the instrumentation and mixing... and I especially love the (far-too-short) harmony-ending.

I really appreciate your commenting and your previewing songs when you're already super busy. I'll have to do more harmony with the Feter. At 4 minutes, I didn't want to push it.

Hi, Terry
Yeh, I told Feter he needed a happy tune as he waits for a new situation. It must seem like forever to him in the desert. I'm real pleased that you liked this well enough to download it. :-)

This is an excellent folk song. I live in the Appalachian Mountains and this song would do very well here. Feter's mandolin adds that great old Celtic sound which, folk and bluegrass, grew out of. Very nice sound, excellent mix. Thanks for sharing this Roxylee.

I'm glad you liked the bass- it's all software notes, because I don't know how to play bass. Yes, Feter playing Mr. Bright adds a lot to this. :-)

glad to have you home, Feter...

Great tune, guys! (as usual) - kind of run out of praises for you guys' work together, it's always a pleasure.

Thank you, Harold. This is a song for the future, hopefully not too distant. We're all waiting for Feter to be able to leave his desert boots behind, and there are many songs for him out there about this subject. I just had to chime in. :-)

This really has that
"Feter" feel ! Love how it really fits Feter ! Plus having his playing and singing in this is really special. Love those descending chords of the guitar. Nice fade out.

Quite a homage ! Plus the pic seems to fit too !

I had been wanting to write one just for him for awhile now, and it finally got done. Feter wrote part off the chorus, and I changed the wording of the last one to bring hope. Thank you for listening. Reading that a guitar genius likes my chords is humbling.

Hi, Rick!
Thank you. I guess we'll just have to do another one with more harmony! Maybe chapter two or something... Feter, they want more harmony, got any ideas for a song? Speaking of a song, when are we going to do a duet, Rick, huh huh? ;-)

Travelin' Shoes
Roxy and Feter... I like the mando work especially in this song. I love the message and when Feter starts singin he really expresses a tired old soul who's travelled a couple of miles too far. Love the double singing da da das at the end. It makes me feel like I finally got home.... like being rescued.... like what the Lord does in ones life who finally receives His answered prayer blessing. This song made me feel like I've been somewhere.

Hey, Andy
I'd love to hear you and Feter do a dueling mando song sometime. Thank you for your observations. I was trying for the hope angle, and looking forward to the day when Feter's desert trek is over. I think the ending is everyone's favorite part- including mine. :-)

A lovely mix of old time music and traditional folk
What a sweet way to finish with the harmonies and fade out. The melody is refreshing, and the overall performance has certainly won me over with its honest and straight up feel. A fine song all round!
