Description
Many thanks to Ben [Dj French Toast] Damien [damiengh] and Patrick [Outtaorbit] for helping this project come to completion. The musical sketch Ben and I started with changed as work progressed. The original sketch was about loss to violent crime and those left behind. This sound bed has been waiting to be taken off the shelf since late 2008. When Ben sent his fantastic lyrics everything changed directions for me as far as topic. Thirty nine men here in Texas alone have been found innocent of crimes they did not commit due to the efforts of a volunteer group of lawyers and students. Unfortunately many of them have spent much of their adult lives behind bars and will now face huge re adjustment issues.
"What you do for the least of these ......".
Production Notes:
Dj French Toast : Lyrics and vocals
damiengh: Horns
Outtaorbit: Lead guitar
Other instruments: Yamaha Electronic Drum Kit, Rogue Bass Guitar, WK-1630 Keyboard
Drums recorded on KorgD3200 Board with final mix in Pro logic and GB.
Mixed for head phones or not ...obviously always a challenge to decide which. BTW ... does the first player sound better than the Quicktime Player? I nearly think the first player is a bit better ... too much to contemplate.
Final notes: This is dedicated to "compassion" and those folks who do not quit seeking right. It is also with a smaller nod dedicated with many thanks to Spitlogic and Dj French Toast for unlocking my ears to their musical magic. Ben was a huge help in setting the tone for this piece. I had some trepidation about approaching Ben and Damien. They are two huge talents here but both were amazing to work with and offered some brilliant performances and advice. Be advised the opening track includes one section of Logic Loops. This turned into a wonderful mixed media project and was a total blast to work on.
Finally .... Patrick has listened to the rough piece for going on 6 months and didn't kick the cat once. My brother you remain the best.
Side Note : I have discovered from Mason with Tiny Man Inside that their vocalist Huy Dao is Case Director on this project. Sincere thanks and prayers to Huy for fighting for the rights of those unable to fight for themselves.
