Description
I had a musical reason for doing this but no lyrics until they fell into my head while watching the news one night. The Cronulla Sharks used to be “my team” in the NRL (National Rugby League), although I’ve lost interest in football over the past 10 years. Recently a scandal has broken out about the (allegedly) very poor behaviour of some of the team during a competition trip to Christchurch in New Zealand some years ago. The allegations are based on a report of (and there’s no delicate way of saying it) group sex in a room at The Racecourse Hotel with a girl who may or may not have been a willing participant, but who has been very shattered by the experience some years after the event. The scandal has ruined some reputations and some lives and has opened a veritable Pandora’s box of allegations of similar events involving other teams and other sports. Pretty appalling behaviour all round from what I can see.
Anyway, that’s where the lyrics came from.
Anyway, that’s where the lyrics came from.

Lyrics
Shark Attack
© 2009 Neil Porter
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
They chase an oval ball
They break the rules, they play to win
The Sharks were loose in Christchurch town
Far too young with too much money
Went looking for some fun
Now I don’t have to tell you honey
The Sharks were loose in Christchurch town
When The Racecourse closed its doors that night
Clare was heading home
Two Sharks circled for the kill
The Sharks were loose in Christchurch town
One by one they had their way
They came from near and far
Those Sharks smell prey a mile away
The Sharks were loose in Christchurch town
They were on the plane for home next day
Those Sharks thought they were men
They won the game but lost their way
And Clare won’t be the same again
The Sharks were loose in Christchurch town
Clare won’t be the same again
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
Clare won’t be the same again
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
Clare won’t be the same again
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
Clare won’t be the same again
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
The Sharks went down to Christchurch town
Clare won’t be the same again

Dr Jiguma on the funk. A very sweet head bobbing sound. Guitars are really laying it in. Bravo Neil.
