Description
I sing and fingerpick on this one.
The song when I first wrote it, I was impressed to make it about a world war 2 soldier off to war starting out on a train. But take for what it is worth to you.

Lyrics
Looking out the window of the train
I can hear the clickity clack of the rails going by.....
Going by.......going by

Farmlands with their cows and fields of wheat
Quickly pass leaving stories never told, never told.....
Never told........ never told!!!

(Chorus)
On and on, on and on, on and on to a place we've never been.
On and on, on and on, to a place we've never been, We've never been, never been..........

Guitar lead

Though we are all dress the same, our thoughts are so different as we move along, we move along, we move along! We move along!!!

The notices were such a surprise, the tears leaving loved ones all alone, all alone, all alone, All Alone!!!!!......

(Chorus)

On and on, on and on, on and on to a place we've never been.
On and on, on and on, to a place we've never been, We've never been, never been..........

We've never been, we've never been!

Nice song...
and nice mud float on that ramp.

I enjoy the music and now you have given me an idea of
what I can do with all my tile job pictures from all these
years. Maybe a blues song with a picture of a large floor
job... "Those Tile Setting Knees Blues"

Nice song...
Postludes Trio

The job was done at 99 Eastwood Ave, near Monterey Blvd in San Francisco
Ca. It was a very unusual job in that it got me interested in setting up a web
site. I put up various pictures from that job and immediately afterwards I got
a call from Seal Rock's Inn owner to do his entry plus 10 or so extra
bathrooms. After that Louis Trager of the San Francisco Examiner gave me a
very nice write up in the Paper: Mainstreaming The Web.

That was actually done on a cement slab. '

Thanks for posting

Good!
I liked this piece very much. Different than what we
usually hear on this site, wich is always nice. One thing I'm
not certain I'm thrilled with is the falsetto. To me, it
doesn't exactly fit in with the rest. But very nice result
none the less!

Thanks for the input! Ya, I got daring and sung some real high notes, but if
you stick your singing out there you do have to pay a price some time:)

Thanks again

Great folk song. Wish the lyrics were included. Thanks for sharing.

Guthrie...
To: Skipper

Interesting, I guess you mean Arlo Guthrie "The City Of New Orleans".

If you mean him, that's quite an honor to be in the same league. He has a
terrific lyrical voice to go with his outstanding writing abilities.
I heard him live near were I live in Marin County, Ca.

Ya, thanks for the request on the lyrics. I'll put them up here!
It's hard to get that song out of my heart!

Thanks

another great song!
The falsetto didn't bother me...it added an intruiging
dimension to the melody... and the song was more
unique for it.

another great song!
To: Stun

Ya, though that It felt very right to add into to the fray when I was finger-
picking. Those are the things that inspired me to go to the recording studio
and have it recorded. I kind of fell in love with the sound of the finger-picking
that I did and wanted terribly to record it. It just kept gnawing at me to put in
words about a world war two veteran in uniform going off two war with other
soldiers in uniform. The flow was almost like a fast train. I love movement
and being able to write words with them.

I felt that it had a kind of Simon & Garfunckel feeling to it.
Some of their music is a favorite of mine.

Thanks soooo much for adding yourself to the favorites!

upbeat
The combination of sounds mesh nicely together on this
tune; the mix is very well-balanced.

I really like the upbeat tempo of this piece, which adds an
interesting contrast to the "minor" key.

Excellent guitar playing as usual. Your voice (in all its
ranges) fit the musical material well too.

Yes, please do post the lyrics. (Always, whenever
possible.)

Oh, man. What can I say? You are riding high with this
take. Singing through two registers and playing guitar so
wondrously ... at the same time. You are exceptionally
gifted. You lay down tunes that way you lay down tiles --
in expert fashion. 10-10-10-10

<br>You need to color correct that job photo. Too much yellow. It makes the
tiles look pea greenish.

Such a great Simon and Garfunkel feel. It is like coming
home. Your vocals sound perfect on this track. So
enjoyable! This is my favorite vocal song you've posted so
far. Really nice.

Happy to find this at the Vintage Fest
love the way the vocals work musically as well as lyrically. Reminds me little of Simon and Garfunkle in that way. Great guitar picking too.

It actually
sounds like two different people singing. The higher singing isn't as confident as the lower but still sweet. Lovely melody and warm, accessible lyrics. Thank you.
