this is the third song from the rpm challenge
i recorded this about half way through the month. it was probably when i first felt like i was running out of ideas. the chord progression cam first and the words were pieced together from notes and journals i was keepingduring the month. i am working on a companion video fro this as well. as soon as we get past the indi arts festival this week end i will start back to work on finishing it.

by the way, the name of this cd that i created is"food and Shelter"

i am thinking about words tonight
they can be hard as nails
they-can be as shapeless as water
they can break your heart
they can hang like a chain
hold you up for years
cause you to think twice
take away your fears
you are falling in love
standing in the kitchen
thinking about nothing at all
refrigerator running
light bulb humming
wishing you would call
it is snowing out west
you ask me how i am doing
and i say im am doing my best

wild wild horses
could not drag me like you do
and i love i love i love i love
i love wild horses too

kiss me in the morning
wake me if you dare
take me with your fingers
tangled in my hair
i drink your nectar
lying on the kitchen floor
wrap your arms around my shoulders
i want to give you more

wild wild wild horses
are living in my bed
and i love i love i love i love
i love wild horses i said

the sun strikes the at mid day
blankets the kitchen with streaks
the back yard is in shade by morning
cold wild dries out my cheeks
the full moon is brighter
i just cant hide her
i just cant hide her
i just cant hide her
im falling in love

Really good tune
The acoustics sound great. The overall feel is brilliant. I could totally see a video for this. Excellent vocal delivery.

Very nice tune. I'm jealous.

Better man.
The second vocal works very well for me, sustaining the high/harmony notes here and there. Everything about your interior-space delivery just breathes its way through the song. Maybe for that reason I don't need the drums/percussion as high as they are, even though they're really not too high for me to appreciate the song as a whole. You're a better man than I for even attempting the rpm challenge. I hope to hear you on NPR next time they showcase some of the season's best.

Had to
check back in to comment on this Tim..... another beauty. I really am a fan of your music. Love the storytelling lyrics you write with such depth and emotion (I'm sure you could write a good novel too) and the musical accompaniment to your breathy, personal sounding vocals is spot on. I particularly liked the accordion touch in this and the harmonies, cheers M

The build
is nice and subtle, and works so well. The accordion is a highlight. I'd love to see the video when you're done. Wilco comes to mind. Which, of course, is a compliment.

This has the feel
the lyrics demand. It's laid back but intense. A difficult combination, but you seemed to have pulled it off admirably. Thanks for sharing,

It's good to see you posting on MacJams again, Tim. I have missed your presence.

For a man that was running out of ideas (for the song challenge), this song seems remarkably complete. And full. Your latest material seems bigger in its spaciousness ... entirely occupying the soundtrack.

I always feel the weight of the world in your songs ("you ask me how i am doing/and i say im doing my best"), but at the same time there seems to be an acceptance with the less than perfect world you are inhabiting. Maybe love, love, love will make things alright? One can hope so.

Here we go again
Tim, I've said it many times, and at the risk of repeating myself, there is always an honesty and depth to your music that is simply...rare.
