Written and recorded a long time ago. This was one of my first compositions since I started using MIDI (a very long time ago). It was written as a bass solo. I played a 4 string yamaha bass, an Ibanez fretless bass and a strat guitar along with various midi synths. The mix is uneven in parts and I used dual basses in some parts. The first set of solos double bass and guitar. I had great fun recording this. Unfortunately, not too many people (other than fellow bass players) have much of an appreciation for instrumental prog rock bass solo pieces ;)

I played all basses, guitars and keyboards. I used finger tapping on both guitar and bass in this one. My original vision for the song was a combination percussion ensemble and bass solo.

Kind of in the vein of
Pat Methany. Cool Jazz rock sound. Like it. Can hear some Zappa, and Al DiMeola possibly influencing your music. Probably a Vai fan too I bet. Good Job. Enjoyed it.

Cleo's Snakey Melody
Enjoyed the melody. The feel is excellent, especially in the bass. When you mixed this I'm guessing it was fun. ? Something about the mix is, the legato in the midrange, the guitar, is "plunky". Legato passages soar...On the third listen, I'm really liking the bass line...
Real strong outing here Steve, I will be back for more...

And for a reason
Even monster bass players like Duck Dunn have voiced their disinterest in bass solos. Yours has some good moments though, and the overall arrangement is great.

Nice energy
I really like the tubular amp guitar on this track. This is a nice groove to show the bass. My so Anton ("twonicus" on MJ) plays bass and I've always been a fan of guys like Manring and Wooten, Squire and Patitucci. I dug the track. ice first foray into MIDI, by the way. You have a good ear. I maybe would've had the bass be the last thing you hear, a fall or vibrato'd hold note or something, just to leave the listener with an image of the guy ion the spotlight. Terrific track, tho.
