Times Have Changed

It's time to post a song so Lavalamp knows I'm still alive :). I've actually been wicked busy of late and haven't had any time to record anything new. So I dug up some old 4-track stuff from the old high school days. Every song should end with some Dead or Alive.

It's from sometime back in 1998. I'm especially nasaly (sp?). Anyway, enjoy the hell out of this. It's free so don't complain.

You've got the strangest look in your eyes
Like you're just as confused as I
Our ups and downs are peaks and valleys
And I don't know what to do about it.

When we discuss we're ok for a while
We're feeling good and we start to smile
Am I nervous or am I just scared?
I'll feel better when I have you here.

This is beginning to hurt
Things aren't the same as they were.

All right. Don't break my heart tonight
You've got that innocent look in your eyes.
We can make this last.
Hold on while the rough times pass.

Confused emotions got away from us both.
Our past directs us to the way we should go
It won't be easy but it's well worth the work
Examination of what we put first.

Well, I was transferring some files around and this popped up. Thought that if I didn't have time to record something new, I could post an oldie.

nothing to complain about here.
a good nasal whine goes so well with guitar pop music... just look at violent femmes, oasis or any number of others!
I was waiting for some bon jovi at the end and was pleasantly surprised that it was another kind of "dead or alive".
cool song!. the strum pattern, chords, melody and moments of double tracked vocals were all good ear candy. glad you posted some of your vintage stuff!

Bon Jovi. Awesome. I should do an electro-dance version of Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive and say it's Dead or Alive covering Dead or Alive. But I don't want to get the sex change. We've got to draw the line somewhere.

Suddenly I feel old - my high school days
were the early seventies. Nothing to be ashamed of here - good song and appropriate attack. Vocals sound good. Keep them coming.

Back when Saturn was in business, beepers were in, and Seinfeld was Must See TV. Thanks, Kevin!

Like the fast machine gun strum on the acoustic. Like the structure of this song, the prechours "This is beginning to hurt" leads nicely into the chorus. The plaintive vocals and minor feel to the song express the emotions behind the lyrics

Strong assessment. I'd like to update this one of these days. But there are Christmas lights to put up and mail to sort. But I'm not complaining. It's the good life!

I used to have a regular Sunday night gig in Tempe. But I didn't do enough covers so I lost the gig. Or enough of the "right" covers. ASU students want to hear Nickelback and Jason Mraz, not Yazzoo and Hank Williams.

No complaints.
Nice, simple song with good strumming and good vocal. Thanks.

Strumming and "singing" pretty much maxes me out on the ability level so I'm glad you got in to it :).

Simple, but catchy!
Quality sound for a four track player.

i was a sighing teenager
best thing about this is how earnest it is, made me smile. love the "alright, don't break my heart tonight" phrasing/melody. also really dig the dead or alive pinned on the end. you kids probably thought that song was so old that it was public domain. also, you should rediscover that whine...
