Pure Simple Day (with Feter)

 Genre: Classical

A collaboration with Feter. In 2006, he sent me a MIDI file of his Renaissance composition called Winterlude. I voiced it in Logic Express. I wrote the lyrics on a pure, simple day while rocking to sleep the neighbor's infant daughter in my living room. I thought of her potential as well as my own.

Here is our original correspondence (from the song page where he posted Winterlude):

Mysterious and cinematic. A prelude to a magnificent event. Heavy wide doors fly open. The coadjutor is agitated. Soon he is soothed by the enchanting music. Resolution is achieved via art! - rschletty

Pure Simple Day

It's a pure, simple day
in the arms of the one
who takes care of your needs

As I rock you to sleep
in the quiet of the hour
there's a vision of what
you will be

This is all that I know:
birds tell truth in the morn
Clouds fly by in a laze
Women tending towards men of good grace

Brilliant sapphire shores
where the luck and the lore
cast a spell upon the seekers
of good light

In the cradle of life
I stand firm with a dream
Bring your passion to bare
on the stage of the air

Pure Simple Day
Feter, thank you. I remember doing this song with fondness. You are the primary reason I joined Waltham Abbey Singers in St. Paul, MN, You gave me a huge appetite for Medieval and Renaissance music. Man, how I wish you could sing with us!

Next, I'll repost another one of our collaborations.

Wow, it now has words
I'd heard Feter's composition while back, and had no ideas of how to develop it into a song. You found just the right treatment. You guys amaze me with your talent!

Wow!! This is wonderful. A sort of Classical/pop
confection. Somehow it brings Kurt Weil to mind.
Lovely singing & gorgeous composition/arrangement. Totally original & pro.
In the words of my friend Feter, "Deepest Bows!"

Very original piece
Interesting backing track and equally so for the vocals. Sounds like a musical piece from Les Mis or something in places and smacks of something Floyd may have done is other parts. Very interesting mix of instruments used here as well. Excellent tune you two!. Favd and downloaded. One of the better songs i have heard in a while.

hey there
I guess I missed this before - You've augmented this song well, left room for the music as well. Good job.
