Enjoyable Billy Joel style
This has a nice Billy Joel vibe, which I truly enjoy. I liked how balanced and smooth the chord progression worked, also a kind of late 70s feel. Regarding the piano accompaniment: I thought the playing was a tad frantic, especially as an accumulative affect. Also, the little hiccup thing you do, using a staccato to bring space between certain chords, works here and there but doesn't work as a continually recurring element, in my ears; and the playing style of each verse needed more variations. I liked how you layered you vocals midway thru, emphasizing the "we" in the lyrics, but I was hoping for harmonies, vocal development, etc., maybe counterpoint or a second vocal line eventually adding to the lyrical texture.

By the way, your voice has a slight C&W sound. You should try to go that direction just to see how it works.

I have a son who will be going to USC law school next year, by the way. Good luck on your journeys!
