you saw me standing by your river
you watched me do what i do
you wondered what i was thinking
thats when i started
started to tell you

i know you fell out of your heaven
i saw you climb up in a tree
i watched you walk across the desert
i saw you looking straight at me
you were holding the sunshine way above your head

i had a dream we both had nothing to say
we kissed by a window
outside was a beautiful day
we walked back down to the river
and we floated away
we watched the moon from the water

i had the dream i was dreaming again

are you my home town
are you a river on its way
have you been waiting in the desert
watching the sky and what it might say
i saw you, saw you with the sunshine
you were holding that sunshine way above your head.

warm and lucious. thought you did a great job on the vocal. like the change up in the effects, and backing voice especially. nice production accents incorporating the piano and glistening like bell synth.

Perfectly lazy in its slow bloom.
A Quadlogy? I loved Something's happened to me. I get an old Stones-ish laziness in the last one and this one in the way they take their time to roll-out and bloom; and the near-equality i the mix of the almost-lead 2nd vocal. (Early stones--they've been a completely postmodern bad-musical joke since about 1972 IMHO.) You're certainly having some fun with ambient swhooshy noises and chimes. They enhance more than distract. Interesting how you decide to go the nolow-reverb route. I might've wet them down and lowered their volume a bit... choices aplenty. Good ones here.

NY meets slow Stones
Very nicely done - I'd probably knock a little 'verb off the vocal, but that's just a personal preference, and many would disagree.
I like the chimes a lot (and the "swoshy things". Nice recording and good playing/singing. Lyrically interesting and it sets a mood for sure.

Lets try that again,
I made some comments on this song, but being the old geezer I am, I forgot to hit the post button. Oh well, it's tough to get old and senile.

Anyway, basically what I said was the this has a nice easy laid back kind of feel to it that I like.

Bob6 pointed me in your direction, and now I'm glad he did. I love the song, and the soft relaxed way you put this together. Instead of rushing to get the listener "there", you just slowly and gently bring the listened into the song to be carried along with you in the performance.

I tend to agree with Bob6 on the mix and his comment on the second vocal, but in this song it just seems to work.

Nice piece of work Tim, I really like this one.

Be well and be cool my new friend,

I see I am
not the only one who hears an early Stones quality to this. It is so good I had to listen to it all on the music page because I couldn't bring myself to stop it and come to the actual song page. By the time it was done I had to come here and check to see if I could D/L it or at least gush a little. Looks as though I get to do both. This is in the top 5 best songs I have heard on this site.

This is gorgeous, Tim. Love the way this unwinds. Wonderful lyrics: "are you my home town
are you a river on its way". And love the sense of spaciousness in the mix. Guitars, keys (Mellotron?), vocs--all just great.

Feel - I would buy this.
I get the Stones references but would also add the sensitivity of a Van Morrison ensemble.
Downloaded. Thanks.

I got a pink floyd type vibe on this myself. There were moments in the chorus that sound a bit like "cant always get what you want" but the overall vibe to me was floydesque. Enjoyed the song, very well done lyrics. Good production

Are you my hometown?
Wow, this song is something! I agree with the commenters about some of the style references and the relaxed unrushed pace, but in listening--this is a terrific song in totality: sonically, lyrically! I can't get over that line "are you my hometown." Great!

Ohhhh! I love this!!!
Puts me in mind of C,S,& N's "Wasted on the Way" and this theme of second chances. (?) You have such a "Way" with getting down to the raw and simple truth. Give me a heads up little flame thingy when you post, Brother. I don't want to miss a "thang" you compose! Loved the video! ~ How do you do the things you do?! Rare Orchids spring from your soul, "Word Man"! : ) btw do you know you look a little like Eric Clapton? Hope you don't feel that's an insult... ;~ }P
