Magic GB Slow Blues(2) (with dave_b)

Description
Another version of Magic GB Slow Blues (comes with GB '09 as a product feature IOW I didn't write this song.) I did this one again for a couple of reasons. The first is that many people commented on the first version that the guitar part I added should be up and the mix and centered. The second is that I got a new software bass for Christmas (The Scarbee Pre-Bass) and I need to get up to speed on it. So, I tried to reproduce as closely as possible the really great loop that comes stock with the song. I'm happy with the way it came out, and I would be especially interested in what any commenters might think about the bass line. I did the guitar solo again just because!

Way to play out those tasty blues licks. Nice work. The guitar playing on this version is so clean and nice. Playing a clean channel is tough because any sloppy fingering shows up like a coffee stain on a white tee shirt. Well done.

I just listened to "The Scar" and I really liked it (commented on it over there). I think it's cool the way you can hop genres and maintain such a high level of quality and productivity.

Hi Kenta, thanks for coming by and checking this out, glad you liked it. The Strat is an American strat, black on white just like Eric Clapton's guitar. Had it about 6 years, and it's already been refretted once.

MagicGB is great fun, and specifically made for this kind of jamalong-helper... and you really did nicely here. I think you could have brought the bass a little more forward even, it was sounding great. The guitar work was great fun, made me smile.

Lovely smokey bar blues
I have tried to use the magic GB, cannot get any where this quality though. That bass sounds pretty cool. Has a great 'played live' flavour about it. I think you could get some good results using it. It looks a bit like the one you get with Cubase only much better. Did you run it through a amp sim?

Thanks for coming by, glad you liked it. The cool part about that bass is that you can play articulations such as slides, hammer-ons, and pull-offs, and it will even duplicate noises such as a finger sliding on a fretboard, or a pickup tap. I did run it through one of the amp sims in GB. I dug "Stamp On My Head" and commented on it over there.

Fun to play along with
Nice feel of the blues. You don't need to hear too much more about your bass - the playing was up to the great tone the Scarbee is able to produce. Everything worked great. Had I been in the studio with you when you mixed it I might have recommended that you bring the rhythm guitar down just a pinch to make sure the lead was featured, but this is a very cool stroll of a blues song in any case, just as it is.
