Confronting the Villain

I took a class on film scoring and my final project was to score at least a minute of a certain short film. I decided to score the last minute. So this piece is literally a bit of film score. Musicality might be lacking somewhat.

It's a terrible short film, but to give an idea of what picture this goes to... the main guy's ex-wife has been captured by an insane person, and in this scene, he's entering the insane person's home with a gun. He finds the room with his ex-wife, has an unintentionally laughable fight with the villain, and hugs his ex-wife at the end.

I learned a lot making it though having never really scored to picture before. I found it easier than I expected, and considering the footage, was happy enough with the result. Used some cool sound effects in this that really added to it; something I've never tried before in regards to music. Comments are welcome!

I've been very busy of late, but I have so many pieces of music that I just need to find the time to finish. Hoping to return to MJ soon!

Re: Feter
Thanks Feter! I did explore some things in this that were outside of my usual sensibilities, so that was fun. You're right about it being cut short, and listening now, it does stand out. But you're right, that's the film.

You have a great sense of setting atmosphere
This moves along nicely, and certainly instantly creates tension and foreboding with the cellos offset against the drone of the basses. The pick up in the beat at 0:21 works really well with the minimum orchestration you have selected. Understated but creepy as hell.

Works for me!

Re: Doug Somers
There's that word 'atmosphere' again. :P It's weird, I've never thought of that word when composing, but I'm glad I set it well, and that you thought this worked. "Creepy as hell" eh? Awesome. Best compliment ever. :) Thanks!
