Description
This is a "New Renaissance" song about hope and love emerging from shadows of darkness. It was first posted here at MacJams in 2006.

See Feter's original orchestral composition: www.macjams.com/song/25259

From Iraq, via email, Feter sent to me his beautiful Renaissance composition (as a raw MIDI file). I remixed and revoiced his three polyphonic instrument parts in Apple Logic Express. I wrote lyrics and sang all voices. Live tambourine and ceramic drum were added to enhance the feeling of a Renaissance period piece. I tried to get good stereo separation and depth of sound. Feter and I are both very happy with this mix but know there is always room for improvement. We hope you like it. Special thanks to Hendrik Steiner from Munich, Germany, for important comments which helped shape the final mix.

I wish I had better software instruments...or a live session with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.

Lyrics
Happiness is calling to me, my friend.
Love is making my heart to sing.
Years spent in the darkness.
Now the sun is rising.

Emptiness filled me.
Bitterness killed me.
Oppression stilled me.
Now I'm free to give myself to you.

Happiness calling! Love is returning!

Hopefulness is now surrounding us.
Love is making our hearts to sing.
Strength comes from the harmony.
Simple needs embracing.

Flowers blooming.
New steps taking.
Feelings sharing.
Now I'm free to do what I must do.

Happiness calling! Love is returning!

No way!!!
That's awesome! The vocals are really outstanding. I love that this is a classical piece that is sung. Most of the time the classical music i hear is just instrumental. What a refreshing change of pace. Excellent work!

A ripple in the fabric of time?
Oh, that is odd. 1999? How did PHP grab that date? From Fasteddie's computer? Must be some sort of time-space warp.

Jibes talk
Hey, thanks Jibes. Glad you like the package. It was actually first posted here at MacJams in 2006 but later deleted with my entire user identity as rschletty. I posted it again in fall of 2009, then deleted my identity again. Will Lardo stick to the wall this time?

Best,
Rich Schletty

Thanks, CC_C
A bittersweet song since Feter made his exit today. That's why I reposted it. Feter did a LOT for me in my musical development. My heart goes out to him. He told me today that a new era is fast approaching for him. He is quite positive. But he definitely will be "offline" for a while. That's all I can say.

MJ Klein...
Thanks for listening in. This is a special song from the first year I knew Feter. I invited him over to MJ from FolkAlley.com (where we met).

Feter and Rich
Wow, first a great Renaissance piece, then you were able to turn it into a beautiful song of love and peace. Kudos to you both. :-)
