Shandoah

Description
I've been working on music for two octave tone chimes for the last 6 months, or so. This version of Shenandoah is just at the limit of what my 5th graders can do. They're giving a concert in two weeks.
Two octaves is not a lot to work with, but I did manage the water sound in the top half octave, and the basic chords. The high 'G' sounds out of tune to me, but there's not much I can do about it. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the results. The voicing is two celestes set 6 points off two sides of center.

Good gosh, I spelled the title wrong. This is Shenandoah. the name of a river, a valley and a first peoples' group. My fingers got faster than my brain on this.

You inspired me! I just needed to get something posted, and this actually has been in iTunes for a couple of days. Nothing like folk song material to get me going.

Very sweet arrangement, and I can imagine the schoolkids plaing this, and totally beaming when it all comes together... this is quite charming.

Drak,
yes, it is nice to see them 'get it' when the notes they're playing start to sound like music. Thanks for comin' 'round to hear it.

The sound is pretty good,
but the software instrument is not really quite the same sound as the real tonechimes. Still, you get a good general ida of what it's supposed to sound like during a performance. Thanks for listening.

Reminds me of a music-box, which I love so much. Certainly glad I clicked on this before heading to Dreamland. Lovely...

Melodic
Very sweet melody, I can see the ballerina on the music box spinning round and round.
(That high G sounds flat, like you mentioned)
Glad I found this one.

Harmonies
Very nifty arranging.

And you can probably play it a bit slower than that. Good luck with the performance!

I've been working on a Shenandoah piece as well, although not quite as bright and cheery as this one...lol. i'm curious to hear how the performance went. I love how you split the voices the second time around to put the watery accomp on top. very nice arrangement.
