Feel Alive

Get Flash to see this player.

Listening to Tempie’s “Rink Rats” reminded me it was time for something lighter. This is a bit of throwaway nonsense we came up with when we first started playing together in early 2007. In fact it might well have been the first song we wrote. Nothing deep and meaningful here, just youthful lust for a Waitrose checkout girl!
(Yeah Chris I know Waitrose is dead posh and southern but it was the nearest store when we were students!)
Usual early recording live round one mic. and I apologise for the quality but listening back to it there was lots of energy and enthusiasm here, which made me smile.

Feel Alive

Oh she was born
To make me feel alive
Yeah she was born
To make me feel alive

I met her by the checkouts
On a dirty Monday night
I smiled and took my change
It was lust at first sight

Oh would you like it in a bag?
Is what she said to me
I’d like it any where I said
Perhaps against a tree

Oh she was born
To make me feel alive
Yeah she was born
To make me feel alive

She took me to the woods
And she showed me her charms
Then sun split the sky
And she took me in her arms

She made me laugh,
She made me cry
She made me wonder why
But most of all she made me feel ok

Something snapped me out of it
My thoughts had turned obscene
Like “Pammy” in the shower
It had all just been a dream

Love the
sound on this, all gathered round one microphone and a philipsN2204 eh!! This has legs and whilst I do like this version you could expand it .....and I have not forgotten our collab either !Family Bereavement has recently occurred so I need for that to settle down a bit. I have had a play with your riff and will send you a copy ....I'll PN or e-mailyou.

Ah Checkout the Checkout Girl
Cool little tune with a whole lot of character and fun. Great hook filled chorus. I've said it over and over, when a tune holds up in a sparse setting you've accomplished something special.

Feel Alive
lol - this is GREAT! the vocals feel a bit too hot, or else the guitar is too soft, but that's a tiny nit. very fun song - thanks!

Very big smile
You know, I wish I could turn on the radio anytime and hear music like this today--wonderful here! On vacation and only listening to a few things here and there but happy I chose this. Thanks again!

Isnt' it fun to fantasize for a minute?

Cute song. Should be rerecorded with better sound on the vocals.

perhaps! glad i inspired you to juvenile hijinks. my work here is done. check-out girls are an iffy bunch. chances are your waitrose venus had two kids at her mothers and a boyfriend with a meth habit. but that could just be my experience. anyway fun tune.

Charles and I have some old recordings like this from back in college, this might be worth revisiting! A new recording although this one is priceless, thanks for sharing, I especially love the outro!

I actually liked this song a lot
like the fast paced vocals in this. This song would likely benefit from being moved down a step vocally. The high notes were a bit at the end range of your vocals but I really like the energy and vibe of this song. I would do a recording of this song if I were you, but a whole step lower or if that doesnt sound good, maybe use a falsetto and triple track it. Very cool song guys. TONS of potential here that I can hear.

fun tune!
guitars weren't high enough in the mix - but didn't detract from the fun.

I remember having a crush on a checkout girl at our local supermarket. I never dared to talk to her though.

I like it!
Reminded me that my identical twin granddaughters were checkout girls at the local supermarket. One day a very tipsy guy went through, looked up and said "WHOA!!! They put one of you at each end!!!" . I love listening to your 'one-take' productions.
