Description
Haven't posted in a while. Thought I'd put something up to keep some skin in the game.
Have had this track for a while. Recorded vocals and nylon string guitar during solo CD sessions with Producer David Henning. I added keys and second guitar at home in GB. Still not happy with arrangement. Could hear this with strings, maybe. Dunno.
I have mixed feelings about this one. It works well played live in coffeehouses. On the other hand, my wife thinks the lyrics are a little lame. But she's always a tough crowd.

Lyrics
Love Like a River
Love like a river keeps twistin’and turnin,
The current always pulling us down
First we’re shooting the rapids, then dodging the boulders,
Always drifiting or running aground
So we cling to the channel, one eye on the weather
The other on higher ground
While all around us the water is risin’
and the rain keeps pourin’ down
When the morning fogs creeps
and you can’t find the buoys,
you’re pushed by the undertow.
Then the sun hits the bottoms,
And the cottonwood’s blowin’
there’s nothin’ like watchin’ her flow
Love like a river
Love like a river
Love like a river..and the rain keeps pourin’ down
Keep a hand on the tiller but light as a feather,
Careful you don’t over steer
For she’s gonna take you where ever she wants
Blow the whistle, so the way is clear.
Love like a river flows into the ocean
A delta that is fertile and wide
Like a new born baby with water annointed,
Our sins washed away with the tide
Well, there’s snakes in the weeds
And the barges can kill you
Better mind the downbound tow.
But in the cool of an evening
There’s an egret that’s preening
Nothin’ like watchin’ her flow
Chorus

Nice as always. I prefer the organ sound to the pad. I always like simple stuff like this.
My wife's a tough crowd too. She thinks of my stuff more as noise than music. Oh well.
