Description
I had originally uploaded this song, but couldn't stand the way it sounded. I located the file (which, rather foolishly, I had called something different in GarageBand than iTunes) and fixed a bunch of things that bothered me, and then re-uploaded it.

Catchy!
I don't skim the loop library much; how many of these tracks are loops? I just want to learn a bit about your process (when I started making music I almost only used loops). You definitely have a knack for putting together a mix. Huh, you used quite a few layers too! Impressive.

A single change you could make... is to louden and thicken that snare drum hit on Beat 3. Make it POP. That's a big seller for dance music.

Snare Drum
Thanks a bunch for the suggestion--great idea. Now, if I can figure out how to do that . . . hmmm . . .

Let's see . . . oddly enough, the vast majority of these tracks are hand-typed. The drums, of course, are a loop (tambourine too). The bass is a heavily cut, transposed, and spliced loop. The driving repetitive synth that gives it the club feel is another heavily messed-with loop. But there are four layers of synthesizers that I typed in. I mostly work with loops that have the green icon next to them because you can open the score and completely re-write them, and I love that. Those loops with the fuzzy blue icon can only be transposed, I'm pretty sure, so I stay away from those, unless transposing will work. I started just the opposite from you--relying mostly on typing stuff in manually instead of loops, but now I'm having more fun with loops. Thanks for the listen!

Thanks again!
It means a lot! This is one song I really worked and revised and worked and revised. I have a really big issue with patience, so when the process gets long, I sometimes throw stuff out there before it's as good as it could be. Thanks again for the "10"--makes me feel better! :)

Fine title :o)
I liked this: loved the slight variation touches: eg. the use of little digitized/8-bit effects around 01:37 and the popcorny percussion at 1:39. The piece drives forward well, nice mix of ARPs with softer synth stabs too. Could use vocals- don't you sing? No download .. pity.

Ah ..
just saw your forum thread on difficulties with singing due to smoking. I've been chewing nicotine gum for 10 years now.

Download
Thank you so much! As far as the downloading thing, I felt a little embarrassed making my songs available for download, seeing as I'm a beginner. It seemed over my head or something to be putting stuff out there that people could download. But I can definitely go back and make them downloadable--thanks for pointing that out. :)

I am like Lester Bangs in "Almost Famous"--fundamentally uncool. I have been trying very hard to be one of the cool kids for about thirty years now, but I think it's time to throw in the towel in put my energies into elevating Loser-dom into a state... [see more]
