Wanna Meet Your Mama

Just some down & dirty, gut-bucket rock'n'roll

Tom Revell of Downtown Traces is playing bass.

Looking for feedback essentially (I think this one is done but somebody may notice something needs attention :)

It was a Friday night at the Outside Inn
Some people drinkin' their whiskey
Others thinkin' of sin
When in comes little Suzy lookin' drop-dead and lean
leading her posse, you know what I mean
They scooped up a table, right down front
When the song was over she said
"Can I be blunt?"

See, me and the girls dig on the band
When's the show over so we can give you hand
And we can talk about it if you're not content with that
so play me that gee-tar, did I mention I'm an acrobat?

I said thanks for the compliment but don't you know
I'm old enough to be your daddy or doesn't that show
But there's one thing I really would like to know
Who's that older lady sittin' there with you
she said "That's my mama, so whatcha gonna do?"
I wanna meet your mama
You really got no clue
I wanna meet your mama
no offense babe but she's hotter than you
I wanna meet your mama
that's what I wanna do

Now I been playin' bar for damn near 40 years
Musta caused a thousand women plenty of tears
But Mama seems the kind of woman wouldn't get under yer skin
Most the times you lose but sometimes you win
I'm so awful glad Suzy brought her mama in

Mamma's are hotter, no doubt
Classic lyrics. Love the idea. Just one thought: the lag between the first and second stanza interrupted the flow of the story for me. I thought the instrumental break could've been somewhere after the chorus instead (where you have one anyway). Your vocals reminds me of Leon Russell, one of my all time favs. Great fun. Thanks for sharing this.

Leave it to Tobin to bring literary convention into a discussion on rock'n'roll :) But your point is well taken. Actually, I did sort of plan it that way in an effort to change around the basic pretext of r'n'r (Chuck Berry is God :) but it would appear that I'll have to be more careful in how I mess with it.

btw, thanks a million for the Leon Russell reference. I've been listening a lot lately to things like Stranger in a Strange Land, Crystal Closest Queen and that whole era. Made my day.
