Salome (Schletty & Furner) - remix

 Genre: Gospel

On February 13, 2008, I put together a collaborative piece comprised of my extemporaneous vocals over a richly evocative soundtrack that Bill Furner (TheTiler) had sent to me. Earlier this evening, I played that old mix on my computer speakers and the mix sounded muddy, boomy and lifeless. So, I opened up my original Logic Express 7 project on my old (but still productive) Mac Power PC G4 (500 MHz, 1 GB SDRAM). Here is the result of about 77 minutes of tinkering with the original tracks.

Yes, this was actually sung without preparation into my Audiotechnica 3035 phantom powered mic. Bill had simply given me the theme of the Biblical Salome who demanded the beheading of John the Baptist. My soliloquy is barely accurate, historically or Biblically, but you get the general drift of a dancing Salome, a conflicted Herod Antipas and a guiltless prophet named John. Doesn't matter what is said as long as it is articulated with passion (without going overboard). This is going up at www.richardschletty.com/voice tomorrow as another voiceover sample. Yep, that's the direction I am headed as a new sidebar in my freelance world of design, illustration and sound.

Thanks for listening. It's been awhile since I've hung around here. Hello to all!

What a collab!
Rich, you are a true storyteller, and Bill's exquisite guitar piece is the perfect backdrop for the story. Chillingly good, guys.
